Mask wearing is going to be more commonplace in the winter for a few years I think. Would be surprised to see that disappear entirely.

Does that mean gone are the days of packed bars/pubs for the next few years?

Mask wearing doesn’t really bother me so they can crack on with that, but anything else by the point the NHS isn’t at risk and it’s disgraceful and will be ignored.

Yeah. It will start with social interactions but the weight of that will help to get businesses open too hopefully. I'm the 3xqct same as you though, if we reach the point where they are Simultaneously crowing that all the vulnerable are vaccinated yet still telling me who I can have in my house then they can GTF. I will tell my friends and family that I am more than happy to socialise with them indoors and if they see the risk as acceptable thats what we will do.

Please show your working as to how a virus that currently produces 60k confirmed cases per day  - with the ONS estimating far more than that - would be reduced to 0 cases per day through a "short, local lockdown". Because other than picking a magical 0.0 R rate, that's not happening.

Seems a lot UK wide. But could easily be done in Scotland within a couple of weeks.

Have a week's grace either way of a very low number for everything not indoors going back to normal. And everything else back, for the end of vaccinations. Providing it progresses at a good pace.

Mask wearing does bother me. Not when i'm in a supermarket or on a train etc, but when i'm at work.

They are ok for short term use, but simply aren't comfortable to wear for circa 8 hours per day.

I don't believe anyone who is required to wear one for the whole time they are at work would advocate them hanging around.

Surgery clearly isn't for you then.

Hopefully not. At the point mentioned above, I will take my business to businesses who commit to normality.

I hope not too but I don’t see how they could ensure face coverings etc but allow ‘normality’ in hospitality settings. No point in saying to wear them in shops but act as normal in the pub etc.

They will hopefully come with some 1 metre plus bullshit like in the summer but make it all advisory or Maybe limit numbers but dont actually bother about what they are doing once inside. I just want to sit at the bar and have a pint.

Might have misunderstood but if we are talking about being at the point of low hospitalisations and ICU rates and they are still not opening hospitality with no restrictions except possibly mask wearing then I don’t see that as remotely acceptable. Social distancing still being in place when the virus is reduced to very minor (or more likely none at all) symptoms for 99% of people who get it is ludicrous.

There seems to be a lot of heat on here today about something that has no chance of happening. We will start to open up once we have vaccinated the vulnerable and we will be back to near normality by the end of the summer.

You’re probably right, but I think it’s perfectly understandable to get annoyed at a government adviser effectively advocating that we lock ourselves in and rip the arse out of everything until it’s completely eradicated.

Whilst we all hope you are right, it doesn't mean we can't criticise Devoid Sridhar's batshit mental ramblings
