They’ve had months to plan and it seems the plan is that they have no plan. That just seems like common sense and nothing else, don't forget community-wide vaccinations aren't likely to start until the spring. So they're using the earliest available but more difficult to store Pfizer vaccine for the most vulnerable age groups and frontline NHS/Social Care staff. When other, more easy to store and use vaccines are available next year, especially if its one you've already ordered a lot more of, use them when starting to roll out into the wider community.

Why have we ordered so many? 357 million vaccine shots seems excessive

Manifesto
1 hour ago, ICTChris said: The vaccine that has started to be used in Ebola outbreaks in Africa needs stored at -80 as well and the WHO and other agencies managed to vaccinate nearly 300,000 people in a recent outbreak. If a cold supply chain can be established in a war zone in the Democratic Republic of Congo treating a virus that is highly contagious and has a case fatality rate of above 60% then I’m sure it’s *possible* to do it In Glasgow for Covid. A/ Ebola had been around for 45 years and there is NO effective vaccine. B/ WHO spent more on travel for its staff in 2018 was it? than AIDS/ Ebola and malaria combined. Anyone who references them (or donates) is at it. C/Glasgow. Who the f**k cares. -
Manifesto
And ict Chris, referencing the DRotC as a backwater African nation is oooooft. The backwater African nations have faster 4g and delivered medicines by drones for the last few years. Rwanda I think as prime 'get it right fucking up ye' material. -

Genuine Hibs Fan
I watched a documentary about this lad Joseph Kony a few years back and I would not be game to live in the DRC as a result (look it up if interested it's called "Kony 2012").

We scrambled to get the 7 million Moderna vaccine basically because the EU had some and it was really effective. We have ordered enough to do the population twice hopefully we make sure they spare ones are sent to the poorest and least stable nations.
