Governments can’t admit that their catastrophic response, based on faulty modelling and exaggerated assumptions, has wrecked the economy and killed thousands of people.

I've read some utter shite on here in my time, including most of the body of Sergeant Wilson's work but this takes the biscuit

If they were "merely following the science", then we'd still be in a total lockdown, because scientifically that is the best way to avoid the spread of the disease. If nobody is interacting with anyone else then it's impossible for the disease to spread. We still need hospitals to look after the ill people, we still need various health services for people with other conditions, we still need supermarkets in order to be able to feed ourselves, and then we still need some form of public transport in order to get the people doing these jobs to the places they need to be. If it was as simple as following the science, then these would be the only things operating right now.

As soon as you start seeing schools and other educational establishments, or any other non-essential businesses opening, that is no longer "merely following the science". You are immediately making social and economic decisions, albeit ones still influenced to some extent by scientific principles. However, "the science" alone doesn't say anything about which things out of garden centres, cafes, pubs, leisure centres and sports stadiums should be opened. Those are entirely economic decisions.

I get all that, however the point I was making which you've conveniently ignored was that virtually all Governments are following the same advice and pursuing the same mix of Health / Economic protection.

I'm not for one minute saying it's right, however it's a balance that's consistent throughout Europe and not just in Scotland.

There's a certain irony in this Manchester covid fund fallout over a measly £5 million out of a total of the requested £65 million.

All this when one of their football clubs don't bat an eyelid when paying £80 million for the services of Harry Maguire. Meanwhile one of this football clubs other overpaid stars is handing in petitions to the commons over child poverty.

Lunatics and Asylums ???

I suppose it says a lot about this society in which we live.

So, just to clarify, you blame governments for over-reacting to the virus, and you're blaming Bill Gates for the actual virus itself?

What is Bill Gates hoping to achieve?

Revenge of the nerds.
