Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

The government mandates a lot of things.
It's up to the police to determine how to implement that.
And they had been moving to a more commonsense approach to policing, leanred through painful lessons since the 80s.
Covid, however, seems to have unleashed a wave of control freakery.
They should pick their battles more wisely if they want to avoid the lockdown collapsing through the loss of public consent.

You couldnt come across any less of a roaster if you posted nothing other than ‘i am a roaster’. Just picturing oaksoft organising a mass uprising because a police officer spoke to a man in an area of a park that was taped off and finds it outrageous.

Speaking to, but not arresting someone who is in an area that the government has mandated are not used, seem entirely reasonable when considering the line between the need to enforce the lockdown and the pointlessness of filling the cells with reasonably minor, no harm done infractions.

Suspect oaksoft is just bored on his enforced sabbatical from Thatcher style union busting and poslishing the name plate on the door of his (formerly) successful business.

Of course, he will absolutely not be busy with anything to do with a mortgage. No siree

It's all a bit meh from him so far. I was hoping for some righteous outrage about the filthy layabouts sponging off the state for their "furlough" payments when they could be out scrubbing the pavements with disinfectant.

And yet you still get nonsense like the below

There's a very difficult balance to be struck with the lockdown. If the politicians had went full absolute lockdown then the police response would've had to be harsher. But I'm not sure how long that would've been possible - unless we had an Italy style overload of deaths (that would've hardened people's resolve).

Delighted to see the data collectors and virus testers in the City slums and villages of India are accurately passing on the true figure.

Even without India (which is undoubtedly inaccurate), it’s a horrific figure.

Might have been a bit hasty about India, there are a lot of possible factors to juggle. But that's also the case with comparing UK with other countries with different variables. Portugal with Spain for example?

Particularly when you know that our figure is not including the non hospitalised deaths. I read today that Belgium's figure was the worst in Europe because they were including everyone where coronavirus is mentioned on the death certificate. We aren't.
