I can think of shitloads of places where I could go for a walk and not see a soul - Hampden, St Mirren Park, Tannadice, Rugby Park....

St Mirren park is soulless at the best of times.

If it continues at that rate, a 2 week lockdown would hopefully see cases drop right down.

Lockdown is coming anyway because arseholes can’t be trusted to do this off their own back.

I don’t agree with JTS98 in theory. We should be able to get out of the house responsibly for at least a small part of the day.

But as long as it’s a choice arseholes will continue to congregate in parks etc and lockdown will be brought in.

I think this is likely too.. full lockdown middle of the week maybe.

The fact that we know such people exist is why lockdown is the only way. We are seeing this around the world and I find it surprising that so many people still trust the general public of any country with this. It does not work.
The general public have shown they can't be trusted. Compulsory lockdown for 4 weeks or more is required. Only out for essential supplies.

They're just the same thing on a sliding scale.

What the UK is advising just now is partial social distancing. It makes no sense.

No they aren't. Social distancing is staying 2m apart. If you aren't staying 2m apart you aren't practising social distancing.

I think the problem here is that you don't understand what that means, so have just invented your own definition..

As I said you are talking about lockdown. We may get there, but we're not there yet. And if we do get there its because idiots don't practise social distancing.

Carrying on with activities like going out for a walk? Are you listening to the live Prime Minister address right now? He has just encouraged people to go outside for walks, to aid physical and mental wellbeing. To be fair to him, he re-inforced the point about social distancing.

You stay at home 100% if you want.

Aye, but what's all this 2 metres shite? I thought we could ditch all this foreign muck after Brexit. I will be staying 2 yards apart from anyone, which is a vast reduction on the wide berth I normally give the proletariat.

The government should hire referees to book people for encroachment.

I'm sorry, mate. You're wrong.

Social distancing is reducing your social contact with other people.

Closing schools is social distancing. Working from home is social distancing. Closing public transport is social distancing. Not going to your local pub is social distancing.

A lockdown is a measure of social distancing.

The fact that you are wrong about what social distancing means this far into this pandemic shows the failures of the UK's mixed messages on this.

JTS98 is arguing that we should ignore social distancing advice and totally self isolate.

Try to keep up.

I am keeping up and have some sympathy for his position.

I only walk into my local supermarkets for food, drink and essentials. Other than that, I am staying at home to minimise the risk of infection. That's been my way of life for the last few weeks.

However, it's a matter of personal choice until the Government imposes the inevitable lockdown.

I'm not sure if Malaysia, Indonesia or Thailand are great models for us to follow tbh.
