Hard one to judge as a signing. Came with a good pedigree and was comfortably the best defender in the league for a while. Then decided he couldn't be bothered played football and got mystery injuries. Does that make him a signing who surpassed or fell short? He did prove a lot of tears and snotters from Chisholm and QotS fans when Arbuckle broke his leg so, overall, a positive.

The best part about the Dominic ‘part time baller; full time rocker’ Shimmin tale is that Dundee then handed him a huge two year contract in the summer of 2010 despite all of the above antics being public knowledge. We at least managed to squeeze 38 appearances from him - Dundee got just one.

Oh, Dundee.

Hamilton, I thought he would be pish, I was terribly wrong, he’d have to improve massively to get there.

Marshall, pleasantly surprised by him, although he isn’t as good as some think.

Forster, big, solid, commanding, tough, boy was I bloody wrong.

Only mentioning a few of this seasons players, as a Dee, I think we could bring down the internet if we all ranted on the pish that we have been let down by.

Rumour was it was an off field issue that ended his time here. He was deffo the best of that bunch.

As far as compliments go, it’s like being the tallest dwarf at the circus, or the lightest at fat club.

I agree. I think it would be tough to pick between Brownlie and Holt right now but Holt took a month or two to get up to speed following his return. Brownlie hasnt put a foot wrong all season.

Kilday has done well (as has Mercer, the defence as a whole is better than last season) but he hasnt been as consistent as Brownlie. United's winner last game was Kilday's error, so was Dundee's late leveller at Dens, albeit Dobbie went up the other end and won it again. I dont want to nitpick though. We really are much better at the back than last year, which starts with the keeper of course.

Kilday also messed up for the equaliser at Alloa.

He's done fine overall - that's all.  The "outstanding" claim was very generous.

I suspect Brian Donowa is the Sunday name of Louie Donowa? Came with a decent reputation, didn't hit the heights.

Maamria has been a coach / manager in the English non league pyramid but latterly with League 2 Stevenage and is currently at Oldham.

I'm at a loss to even try and justify that number of players being used in just one season, perhaps if we had an extended European campaign to deal with.. ... 😂😂😂

I think there were lots of dodgy goings on with agents over that period.

I also remember we signed the best full back I'd ever seen in the Swedish International Niclas Nylend but he only played 2 games before going to Captain Malmo. We also had Tommi Paavola who appeared, looked amazing and then disappeared, the American "star" Richie Williams who I don't think even kicked a ball for us and many others that I've totally forgotten about.

And was in the news this week when he was central to accusing Mark Sampson of racism, the FA Enquiry into which published its results this week. And basically said either Maamria and his gk coach were lying or Sampson and other coaches were and we cannot tell which so no decision was reached. Though they were pretty scathing about Maamria's evidence. Full judgement kept me amused for half hour or so while reading it!
