Stranraer Vs Montrose

Recommended Posts

Ahead of tomorrow's eagerly anticipated fixture, can anyone actually summon up sufficient enthusiasm to opine?

I wonder if the long and winding road that leads to Stair Park, has much effect on the players?

Stranraer players are more used to it and most of them not travelling as far as the Montrose players.

Maybe, it's not as bad as I remember it the last time I was there, at the second leg of the playoffs for League 2 back in 2008, when due to Gretna's demise, Montrose were the only playoff contenders from SL3 not to get promoted.

Although we were well beaten in the second leg, we should have taken more from the home tie. The ref. on that occasion was truly dreadful, ruining the game with his ineptitude.

Those days are gone now and in the past, they must remain (please), so while a share of the points wouldn't be a disaster, three would be just dandy.

Would it be heartbreaking for this game to be off ?

Maybe gives more time to bed the new players in, more practice, discussions as to how to stop conceding all those

******%£$ ing goals.....

Was very impressed with Stranraer when they visited Links Park earlier in the season. Very unlucky to lose to a late winner for us.
Fortunes for both teams have swung. Montrose on a terriffic run of form just now and Stranraer struggling for points.
We always seem to get a hard game down there so a win, if the game goes ahead, would be most welcome. A point wouldn't be disasterous.
Hope the game goes ahead because it's a bad enough journey for players and fans at the weekend. Must be a struggle going there midweek for a re-arranged game.

Purely from a football standpoint it might end up being a good thing as you say.

Maybe not heartbreaking but the home club takes a hit when a Saturday game is postponed for midweek. It tends to knock a good chunk off the already slim attendance and means some of your regulars for both sides can't make it, plus there's other losses like programmes already printed, hospitality refunds, etc.

Also a ballache for club volunteers who spend the week putting the work in ahead of Saturday's game, only to have to do it all again for the rearranged fixture 😑

Would obviously be better playing it tomorrow, due to Stranraer still being in the cup next Saturday is a no go and it would be consigned to a gruelling midweeker after that. The Belfast Ferry Diehards will be especially nervously looking at the forecast, ooft....
