Reports of a rocket being fired at the Us embassy in Baghdad....might just be twitter rumours

If that hasn't happened my bet would be an American warship sunk in Bahrain, with no verifiable evidence about who did it. Hopefully the Iranians are more clever and patient than that though, and take the Americans being thrown out of Iraq as a victory. Trump could claim it as fulfilling his promise of taking the boys back home, and Iran would get freedom of movement through Iraq and Syria to Lebanon, no need for escalation. Israel and the Saudis would be fucking furious though.

About 1500 Iranians have been murdered over the past couple of months for protesting the government, many suggest the al Quds organization has been heavily  involved in that suppression.

'Hundreds' killed in Iraq protests where militia linked to the al Quds and PMF forces have been suppressing the dissent.

Obviously the hand wringing left wankers are nowhere to be seen or heard.

Up to 500 000 dead from the Bashar al Assad regime supported by the Iranian al Quds and (friends of the British left) Hezbollah.

Not a fucking squeak from the left.

The head of al Quds gets taken out by other regional power player and suddenly everyone is shitting themselves and decrying extra judicial murders.

The vast amount of murder and ethnic cleansing in Syria, the sectarian murder and politics in Iraq, the severe repression of any dissent in Iran, the stirring of sectarian conflict in Lebanon and Yemen? The only time the shite bags on the left give a toss about this is when it gives them an opportunity to attack the US\Israel\UK. There only interest in the welfare of the peoples of the middle east is to use them for domestic political grand standing.

Extrajudicial murder should be condemned. But that is all extrajudicial murder not the 0.1% where it is politically advantageous to you.

Soleimani was just another war lord in a region afflicted by them. His death of no greater concern than that of a  grandmothers in Aleppo or a grandchild in Gazza. The fake hand wringing left can f**k off.

A wonderful avoidance of the question ‘why now?’  Or maybe that’s not relevant.

I thought the right was supposed to understand realpolitik.

I don't think anyone here is shedding a tear for the man, just a bit worried that there might be consequences we won't like.

Do you genuinely think that state-sponsored terrorism is the answer?

The left are passive, anti-war and anti-interventionist. Would Bernie Sanders or Corbyn have ordered Soleimani killed? Fuds looking for likes on Twitter aside it’s not just grandstanding.

It's wild that after the last 20 years there are still people left who think anything other than leaving the place alone to sort itself out is the best action the west can take.

20 years? The West have been fucking the Middle East up since The Crusades.

Yet, morons wonder why they maybe don’t like us.

You know what, you are right.

I am now pro-war and all for killing hundreds of people instead of negotiating using words.

I don't have twitter so I have no anti war stuff to delete.

Thank you for changing my mind on this with your convincing, fact based argument!

WE WANT WAR, WE WANT WAR!

DEATH TO THE ENEMY (whoever that is) AND THOSE CAUGHT IN THE CROSS FIRE!!!11

The Middle East was fucked up way before the crusades and has been a battleground between major powers since the dawn of history, with your Hiitites and Egyptians, phoenicians and as assyrians all getting stuck in.

The Crusades was more  a youngish upstart power trying to play with the big boys.

For most of the 19th and 20th century our involvement was overtly imperialist, although more latterly "protection of interests".

There were half assed attempts at humanitarian moral justification for the first gulf War, but it's really only since Kosovo that humanitarian grounds have been put forward as the actual grounds for intervention.

So many of you just don't get it. This has nothing to do with the west trying to put things right in the east. This is multi billionaire tycoons lobbying government policy to influence and control the stock markets. They know exactly when the downs and ups are, because the policies that they effectively bribe government to implement have the desired effect on the value of the stock shares they own, allowing them to make far more money.

You missed out the Ottoman Empire.
