Haven’t even checked the TV listings, but I’ll be very surprised if it doesn’t feature Jackie Bird from the Glasgow Old Fruitmarket, introducing Aly Bain, Phil Cunningham, KT Tunstall, and some unknowns merging pop music vibes with bagpipes. Only An Excuse will feature characters that were relevant twenty years ago, if he trots out Frankie ‘Where’s the Burdz’ McAvennie for a cheap double-entendre that any of us could write in our sleep, then I might launch a sausage roll at the telly. There will be reports from Auckland, Sydney, maybe Hong Kong, unless there’s a rammy going on. Then Dubai, then us. Then a glass of bubbly with Mrs Poz, we come over all maudlin. That lasts two minutes, before one of us says ‘that’s the telly shite now, stick Jools on.... Basically then, same as last year, the one before that, and.... Have a good one. Even Sevconians. Walked up Suilven today and will have a couple of whisky’s in the house, or the bar up the road if my legs will allow it.
