Ayr v Queens

Superb from Holt to keep it out. You have to laugh at players/feel sorry for officials. The ball is nowhere near over the line yet two Ayr players* are giving the linesman absolute pelters.

* I expect we'd be the same.

One of those is Muirhead having his usual heads gone, though.

The major incidents have been pretty much cleared up now but a couple of things that havent been talked about were the awful defending for Queens first goal and the fantastic pass by Connor Murray for Dobbies run that led to the penalty.

Would it also be fair to say that Bell was "cute" for Ayr's penalty? From the angle behind the goal he appears to grab Osman's arm and drag him to the ground rather than there being any action from Osman to bring him down.

Bell appeared to go down very easily but Osman made it an easy decision for the ref IMO. He has both arms around Bell and the ref has a good view of it.

Think there was an identical incident a few mins before that was more blatant. The benefit of the doubt had been given to the defender on a few occasions but the ref was keeping a close eye on things

Aaron Muirhead in today's newspaper reports taking the blame for the first goal failing to mention of course he was also to blame for giving away the penalty, and probably shouldn't have still been on the park to take Ayr's penalty.

Why shouldn't he have been on the park?

Absolutely, it would. I said yesterday morning that the Ayr penalty was soft. The footage from behind the goal certainly shows theirs no real pull from Osman

Only momentarily, though. He takes his left hand off Bells back long before Bells feet go from under him. Yes, theres contact and yes, Osman is stupid for giving the referee the option to give a penalty but Bell buys it by going down so easily.

You cant give a penalty for something that isnt a penalty because you've let other things go.

You're absolutely right, though, there had been far worse incidents at earlier set pieces

Of course previous incidents will impact decisions referees take in games. The referee may also have a completely different view to the camera angles and could see incidents differently

But he still is pulling Bell's arm at the front.  He gets his hand off his back but never lets go, it was the second time Osman did it but he got the free kick first time round.

If you look at the footage from the goal, Bells arm is around Osman. Its not clear how much pulling is being done by either, but its probably safe to say they are both at it. Having someone pull your arm in front of your chest doesnt make your knees collapse, though ;)

I partly agree with this, while correct, it doesn't allow you to jump and compete for a header from the corner, if you can't go up....
