mrman2011
Hearing this will be the case next year to ease fixture congestion & ensure more rest for the better teams Good idea if true -
btb
Hope this isn't the case and that the SFA/member clubs will reject this.
tamthebam
The whole magic of the cup is that potentially top teams can draw each other in the early rounds and get knocked out. Also it's more likely D1, D2 or non-League clubs would get a nice payday at Parkhead or Ibrox if the top 4 don't get byes into the last 16.

mrman2011
Rangers and Celtic deserve to bypass potential small sides and have a break for their quest for the title I back this -

kiddy
Why not just give them a bye to the last 4, & seed it while they're at it?
EdinburghBlue
Rangers and Celtic deserve to bypass potential small sides and have a break for their quest for the title I back this Indeed! They should get byes straight to the final.
Hampden Diehard
Indeed! They should get byes straight to the final. Or take it in turn to be awarded it. That'll save everyone's season from getting clogged up.
gannonball
Pish Idea, was this in the papers?
Gaz FFC
If they have too many fixtures why don't we just fast forward them straight to the semis? Sorry you're in Europe so beat 2 teams win a cup
Billy Jean King
I seem to remember these "top" clubs arbitrarily canceling games early season to play "lucrative, glamour " friendlies so they can jog on with any talk of fixture congestion !
spiggle
Stick all clubs in the hat at the first round stage. Let's see the big clubs shitting themselves at the prospect of an away game up at Fort William or somewhere like that.

spiggle
Just now, craigkillie said: Why would they be shitting themselves about a game that they would win about 25-0? It's the thought of playing at a shitty wee ground with travel on dodgy roads where they are expected to win 25-0. Shitting themselves at the thought of a potential upset. I want to see the romance of the cup back, not this filtering bullshit in the early rounds.
Marshmallo
It's curretly exactly the same now as it was 15-20 years ago in terms of entry stage for the sides in the top two leagues as far as I am aware? -

It's basically been the same (ie the top 16/18 teams entering at the last 32) since the mid 1960s. spiggle
1970 was the introduction of the 3rd round entry for the top clubs but that replaced the prelim rounds of previous years. I'd still like to see it similar to the way it was in 1969. Next year have 42 league clubs enter at 1st round. The other 22 spots taken by non-league clubs who fight it out in the prelim rounds. Ranaldo Bairn
I really like the current structure. I'd maybe modify it by pushing all 10 Championship clubs into a R3 entry instead of 4 entering at R4 but it's fine the way it is.
