Stranraer v Forfar AFC

Recommended Posts

Since yesterday, no Forfar supporter has bothered to post on the Loons page. In 20 hours, no thoughts on the outcome, no talk of possible team selections, no nothing. What an apathetic team we are. And then The Skelpit Lug posts about a win for Forfar. Followed by absolutely nothing. Nothing.

Apathetic my arse. This away win has made my life worth living again.

I still see 0-0 as the most likely score however.

Surprised but very glad my prediction was off, look forward to seeing the highlights, if anyone filmed it. Noticed Sean Burns was a late replacement for Callum Tapping, is that another one to add to the injury list?  Also did Burns play LM or did he play LB and Bain moved forward?

Nice to see Sean Burns grabbing a goal.

Tapping was injured in the warm-up.  Don’t know yet what happened to him, but given the state of the pitch, it could have been a groin strain.

As to the paucity of comments, the few of us who made it there (easier for me as I’m based in Glasgow) have a long journey back, so may or may not comment in time.

Forfar were the better side overall, but both teams served up an entertaining game despite the state of the pitch.  The ref had considered calling the game off, but the players told him to bolt as they didn’t fancy a midweek jaunt to Stranraer (at least, that’s what Marc McCallum said).

The Forfar goals were all good ones, although there was a bit of luck about the goalkeeper’s sclaff in the run up to the third goal.   The quick thinking at the corner for the second was fantastic.

Three valuable points, but injuries to Tapping and Burns add to the already considerable injuries list.

Yeah the ones that travelled to Stranraer from Forfar are only just home.

Would agree that we were the better side, could have had more than four as well if Forbes hadn’t wasted early chances/passed to his teammates who had a better position to score but three points at the end of the day is massive considering we haven’t won there since 2014. Great to see Burns get back into the squad and grab a goal, hopefully his injury is just a knock and he will be back for next week as he was one of our best players. Meechan at centre back was quite good with Robertson also playing well.

For all those doubters out there GIRFUY. :whistle

All bow to the Malky the Marvelous.

Next week, looks like we're going to score 5.

Once again, well done to anyone who traveled this weekend. Very proud of you.

Any highlights for this game?

That strip clash though!

It was a joke. Who fecked up there. Surprised ref let it go ahead. Questions need to be asked at stair park. As for the game. Story of our season. The goals gave away are criminal. The short corner was horrific. The forfar player who recieved it ran from far side of pitch. Nobody bothered to track him. Wonder what the locals think the ones who wanted the south team on the same pitch this season. It cant cope with 1 team on it never mind a match every Saturday and midweek. Feel sorry for wee Andy Stirling. He is putting in a power of work with hardly a striker to hit.

Apologies to the Forfar fans. Our cameraman is awful. Great that someone films it but its hellish for George to edit. Been like that for years and doesnt improve. Now there is someone talking to him which makes it worse.

It really could have been 8-8 that's why we are bottom though cause instead of drawing or sneaking wins we keep losing or gifting goals.

Undoubtedly a welcome result, but from the highlights, it really could have been any score with either team winning.

Poor finishing and poor choices haunt the lions all over the park at the moment, hopefully the momentum gained can be improved upon with a few more clean sheets.

It is pleasing to see so many of the players throwing themselves at the ball in last ditch defensive mode, mind, rather than shirk away.

Ross Forbes had a mare in front of goal....although the pitch was a complete disaster.

The strips clash was an absolute joke.

Agree it could easily have been a cricket score draw, we need to stop sitting so deep , we are given teams far too many chances atm.

Have to agree regarding the strip choice , what annoys me is that the club will not offer an explanation and it brings into question the running of the club , pitch gets complained about for years now but nothing done although our poor finances probably explain that . It’s been a terrible season and our goal difference is shocking , we’ve been slating our strikers all season buts our defence are equally as poor ...... Well done to the lad Jones perhaps he’s not been given a chance .

No need to apologies, we've all got something to watch, so much appreciated.

As for the guy speaking to him.  Right at the end, did he say "SHITE"?

What is it with wearing away kits at home? Stranraer played in their change strip at home. Forfar have worn the "Bridie Gold" kit our last two home games, and I remember from watching the Clyde v Forfar highlights that Clyde were in their black away shirt.
