Hamilton v St.Mirren

Recommended Posts

What a surprise.

That second half was the worst of the worst and St Mirren should've had three or four. One fucking shot on target and it was a simple save from a free header.

Southwood made some good saves (although I do wonder if a taller 'keeper would've prevented the goal) so he probably deserves pass marks, but Stubbs was causing himself (and fellow defenders) all sorts of problems. Neither centre-back knew how to deal with St Mirren's strikers backing into them.

The goal was because Gogic helped out McGowan, leaving Hunt on his own in the middle when the ball came back out, and Miller didn't tuck in enough. A result of not knowing what to do when your formation gets slightly altered - something Rice should be drilling into them.

If we don't pick up two wins before the break then we are well and truly fucked.

 Absolutely not.

Dundee last season no wins in 7 rock up to NDP and cruise to a 2-0 win.

Dundee again on a massive winless run. Thump us 4-0 at Dens.

Rangers last season no wins away since February (also against us) play us in September. Cruise to a 4-1 win at NDP.

Hibs last season no wins in 8 Lennon on the verge of getting sacked. Come to NDP get a 1-0 win without an Accies shot on target.

Motherwell on a losing run last season fans turning against Robinson a bit, need to field a team of reserves due to injuries/suspensions. Cuff us easily.

St Johnstone this season only win against Brechin in 15 games. Pump us 3-2.

St Mirren no away points after 16 league games. Get a 1-0 win without an accies shot in target until the 70th minute.

Today added to the list. I welcome the next team on a bad run.

Rice must go. 2 full backs who cant stop crosses defensively or put them in when attacking. 2 big centre halfs ragdolled by a midget centre forward.

Gogic is in capable of passing it at all.

Ogpoe, Moyo and Oakley are all awful and Davies is still 2 stone overweight.

Rice made 3 like for like subs that changed nothing.

1 effort - and a poor one at that - in 2 games v Livi and St Mirren.

Anyone heading to Aberdeen next Saturday - other than for a day out on the drink - is a braver Accies fan than me.

Bottom by Xmas (or maybe Boxing Day when we donate a late present of 3 points to the Saintees) which is where we will stay.

In a game like that where Rice makes a Johnny Hunt(why was he starting?) of it,we need the first goal but playing two big lumps together was never going to do this and the makeshift St.Mirren defence did well.

Goodwin got his tactics spot on and Stubbs had his worst game for Accies thanks to wee Arnold from Different Strokes making a nuisance of himself and not allowing him to pass out from the back.

Rice should have played the same midfield as against Celtic,Oakley with Davies and not have a spine of a team who were easily muscled off the ball by a side who displayed greater desire and will to win who should have won three or four nil.

Accies  have lost our fighting spirit in games against our rivals:no Big Marko(could have done with him today),Imrie or McKinnon type will to win and taking off Davies for Moyo is where he lost it totally.Davies wasn't playing great but playing against a swirling wind,he can create a goal out of nothing via winning headers or flick ons.Instead we brought on a guy who doesn't have the fighting spirit or will go win you need in games like this.

Wrong team, wrong formation and wrong subs(Oakley and Martin should have started) and that second half was as bad as anything under Canning.

St.Mirren got their tactics, formation and even subs correct and deserved a more emphatic win.An Accies team with no fighting spirit-bar a spell when down to ten men- who only play well against the top table sides highlights a lack of desire and hunger which has been the hallmark of us for donkeys years.

Beer needed after that...in fact many beers.

Noticed something about Martin when he came on. There were two or three instances where he played a deep pass through the middle, but there was no one there. Fair enough, his passing might've been shite or the strikers' anticipation might've been shite, but after the second or third instance, he turned around to Rice and started going mental for around a minute.

I don't know if Rice shouted at him first and he was replying, or Martin was expecting the forward players to make moves that were rehearsed in training (or was told to do before coming on) but weren't being carried out.

From the BBC match report...

St Mirren travelled to South Lanarkshire with just one available centre-back.

Why aren’t we immediately getting Jack Baird back from Morton then?

Because he’s registered at Morton until January

Ah. I just assumed we’d have a clause that covered an injury crisis. Maybe we simply cannot do that. Cheers!

We've got a similar problem with Steven Anderson. Loans are breakable outwith windows, but Morton will hold his registration until the next window regardless.

Excellent results and 2nd half performance. It was vital we ended the no points away from home pattern. And what a way to do it.

Thought Junior was excellent and seemed to pair up well with obika who both caused the accies back line bother all afternoon. Macpherson excellent also .

Hoping Paul Mcginn's injury isn't too serious - he looked comfortable at CB out his natural position. Who knows that the formation was at the end with majority of the team playing outwith their natural position. COYS!!
