End of season EOSFL Invitation Cup

Recommended Posts

Would there be any benefits in the EOSFL organising an End of season Invitation Cup competition for those clubs that complete their season early - say by mid April?

  1. The competition could be run on a group / knock-out basis in late April and May.
  2. Invitations could be extended to interested clubs in the WRJFA, ERJFA and SOSFL clubs to compete in the competition.
  3. This may help facilitate further integration and harmony within a growing Pyramid family.
  4. It would give WRJFA clubs like Clydebank some very interesting end of season fixtures and a much needed revenue top-up.

No, we have enough fixtures. the Premier play 30 league games and the Conferences 33.  Nobody will finished by end of March.

You do realize these leagues already have cup competitions that run throughout the second half of the season.

And the EoS schedule has the last round of match days for their leagues in May.

Remember that I am suggesting a competition for clubs that have completed their fixtures and perhaps face a monetary void / "flat period" for their supporters whilst other clubs are still in action.

Like I say the EoS have league games scheduled for May plus cups and potential playoffs.

They seem pretty sorted.

I’d say the chance has been and gone now. The league seemed to have games scheduled right into May now.

In previous years it could’ve worked though.

It is probably a concept that would take some time to materialise. Next season the situation could be very different. It could be a great way to bring EOSFL and ERJFA clubs together.

Sauchie have played the most amount of games in the Premier Division but won't be finished until at least early April, so I doubt there will be that many others finished by the end of April. Maybe you could work out who else is going to be available to play games in April?

I do not feel the blatant animosity any more - with the exception of the troll who has been red-dotting my comments this afternoon!

Probably because more than one club are facing upto the fact they need to move to the EoS.

Unknown clubs compete against unknown number of clubs across an unknown number of games. Going up against title deciders, relegation battles, playoffs, established cup semis and finals that will attract neutrals.

Seems like a real money spinner. If clubs don't fancy shutting down after completing a full season worth of fixtures, there's these things  called friendlies.

On the forum it does seem to have shifted. West fans seem okay with stepping in on its own. North don't have a presence. Then the most vocal East posters seem to have gone quiet.

Tbh, not one of your better ideas... more pressing matters to be organised before anything like this is thought about. Already to many meaningless games across all the associations causing fixture congestion so it’s a no from me

I think any forward looking club will have an eye on this and try to run their own “mini tournament” over a weekend near the end of the season.  Maybe attract a local derby or a premier/LL/junior club with a decent following which would bring in some income.

Winter is coming so difficult to predict who will be finished when at the moment but should be clearer at the end of February.

In short no. The season is long enough. Players need time to recover as do parks. Clubs also need time to undertake upgrades to facilities.

Enough games and cups to compete in already.

But if they are playing 33 league games + cups where is the 'void'?

So there's the South Challenge Cup, Qualifying Cup and City Cup that are meant to have ties in March or beyond. However, there's only going to be a handful of clubs involved at such a late stage.

The EoS League Cup and King Cup will have most of the clubs still involved by March. In fact some of the dates conflict so a First Division side on a run could be fairly bust March/April.

EoS League Cup

Second Round 7th March
Third Round 28th March
Fourth Round 18th April
Semi finals 16th May
Final 31st May

King Cup (First Division Only)

Third Round 28th March
Semi finals 18th April
Final 10th May

As for the league games. The EoS Premier is meant to have MD30 on May 2nd. The EoS First Division MD34 is meant to be the 16th May.

So far there are only a handful of clubs ahead of schedule.

EOS Premier should have completed upto MD13
15 games played = x2 games ahead (Sauchie)
14 games plated = x1 game ahead (Bo'ness, Camelon, Crossgates, Newtongrange)

11 teams behind schedule

EoS First Division should have completed upto MD15
18 games played = x3 games ahead (Stirling Uni EoS)
16 games played = x1 game ahead (Dunipace, Heriot-Watt, Craigroyston, Tynecastle)

6 teams on schedule
13 teams behind schedule
