Question for Kennie

BANKIEBILL

Recommended Posts

I see Bankies have been given 2 midweek fixtures and are scheduled to finish the league campaign on 11th March. The year we were in the Junior Cup final - 2009 - we had our last game on June 8th. With 4 extra league games, we're due to finish 3 months earlier and with Talbot still having - as scheduled - 8 league games left.

Couple of questions:-

Why the seeming mad rush to finish the season ?

With all league games due to finish by 18th Apr - are the cup fixtures moving in - or are there potentially big gaps between games ?

Is this the new paradigm ? possibly to tie up with pyramid planning ?

We are scheduled to play one game a week Bill, doesn’t seem like a mad rush. Things would have been different if we had been good enough to still be in the cup

Thanks hph ... but id like to know if finishing the season on 11th March is the new norm.

aye ... its all likely to change of course. 2 things though :-

- we just all of a sudden see our season end on 11th March with no real explanation given for such an early date

- as we finish with a game v Talbot who still have 8 league games after that. As with last season we have some teams finishing much earlier ... it doesnt make for fairness i think ( not that we'll trouble the top 3 this year ).

Would be good to know the context and if it is for a specific reason. If to align with pyramid then its good news.

BANKIEBILL, did you're delegate not explain the reason for the early finish? My understanding it was to align up for the pyramid. That was why we had two midweek games early doors to try and cut down on any backlog. Plus the league cup was ditched and the sectional league cup streamlined. Some teams had they not been still in the cup and/or lost games to the weather would be on game 19 by now. That would leave 11 league games starting the first Saturday in December. You'd be finished playing in the league by the start of March weather permitting.

That wasn't made clear no and would make much sense. If its the reason then its v positive - although still an awful discrepancy between our finish and Talbot's ...

Believe someone from Cumnock pointed this out on here recently.

Certainly be some gap if you stop playing in early March and the next competitive match is the last Saturday in July.

Kennie can't win folk complained about the last fixtures guy extending the season through incompetence. Now folk are complaining that season will end too soon lol  Someday the juniors will join pyramid and play offs will be required and junior fitba will fall into line with the rest.

Kennie can do better by explaining why stuff is happening. He can also try not to have teams finishing whilst other teams have 8 games left. I look forward to joining the pyramid and having more clubs have lights to fulfil licencing requirements.

Take it Clydebank having floodlights plays a part in this. Games can be fitted in without waiting on the light nights starting. Thus the games are done and dusted without waiting on others to play off.

You could still end up waiting. If one of the clubs you're waiting on gets their games postponed.

In 2016-17 Largs played Beith on the 15th April. They then had to wait over 8 weeks to play the final game against Auchinleck on the 12th June. On a Monday night when the result no longer mattered to either team. A financial hit for the club.

Largs, Bens, Rossvale, Cumnock and Ourselves with the lights now.

Then there was Wishaw a couple of seasons ago and the 20 league games that started two weeks after Easter. And Wishaw managed to have Saturday off in the middle of the 20 games and nobody quite understood why since other teams were lying idle waiting to play them.

Talbot will play somewhere between 10 and 20 games more than Clydebank this season. It stands to reason your season will be over first. What else can be done.

just for starters Talnot have had 7 senior scottish games, minimum one Evening Times Cup game and they got further in the sectional league cup,all games Clydebank don't have
