Odd reasons for games being off

With the bridge of don v fauldhouse game off tomorrow due to fox holes on the pitch can anyone think of any other odd reasons for games being off

3 or 4 seasons ago Linlithgow Rose had a poor run of form and several injuries and were due to play Bo’ness but called the game off citing a waterlogged pitch despite there being a minimal amount of rain the night before, games having gone ahead at Linlithgow in far worse conditions and also several other games going ahead a mere few miles away. There was also a rumour that posts were made and deleted off of Facebook in which someone walking by Prestonfield had seen the pitch being hosed on the Friday afternoon.

Wasn't last season, was a few years ago against stenny

Game involving colville park last season off as somebody chopped down the nets. Sure there was a video doing the rounds of somebody involved with colville bragging about doing it to get the game called off,? Wont get away with that in the juniors [emoji23][emoji23]

Pitch markings being incorrect. A game several years ago at the very start of the season saw the penalty area being lined 12 yards, rather than 18 yards out. Referee spotted it, although both teams were just beginning to warm up.

Icardi?

Slightly smaller scale than that. Was that not a team mate's wife rather than an opponent.

Can you imagine Icardi running amok in the SOS

Found a link about it

Not so much an exact fit for this thread but I remember Bankies played Perthshire in a sectional cup game, about 150 Bankies fans paying £6 in, bought raffle tickets etc and then the next day Perthshire announced they’d just discovered they couldnt run that season and were taking a year out and they absolutely didn’t know before they played us... lol.

A good few tears ago, Linlithgow v Cumnock was postponed a good few times, initially due to frozen pitch.
After the weather changed there was a rumour going around that the Rose would try and get the game off again as one of their better players was injured .

Cue a man, Cumnock legend to boot, who got a van and a pump and some hoses and went to Linlithgow , with some other guys to pump water away from the ground.

Game went ahead and Cumnock won and went into next round of the cup

Ahhhh memories !!!!!

The old hose left out and running is most certainly not fiction. I'm not going to name and shame the game I know it happened before. Flooding in the corner nearest the outside tap only.
The other one that actually bemused me was when a ref called a game of because the section of the park where the lino ran was flooded and therefore dangerous. 2 points spring to mind. Why they never reversed the quarters the linos usually run. Or he could presumably have reffed without linos as they were not obligatory anyway.
