What assortment of your team's players of the last decades give you a cold sweat when thinking about them being picked for the first team? I'm sure he's a lovely fellow and he did have to play while injured but he repeatedly chucked the ball in the net while playing for us and was on a huge wage. DF - Tom Aldred. Appears to have done well following his spell with us but was highly touted when he came in only to be binned after refusing to play in a reserve game midweek in Wick. DF - Danny Devine. Signed as cover by Butrcher and was restricted to limited appearences when Warren and Meekings were fit. he looked OK and started the cup final in 2015 but when he came into the side fulltime he proved error prone and lacking in concentration. DF - Matt Elsdon. When Robertson came in in 2017 he apparently had to recruit a side on a very small budget in a very short space of time and this was the result, signing guys based on emailed youtube videos. Elsdon was a total donkey, who was torn a new one in a 5-1 thumping by Dunfermline that confirmed we were in a huge mess. DF - Lionel Djebi-Zadi. There's been some revisionism about this guy recently but I wn't allow it. He was appallingly shite. MF - Dan Stratford. Signed by Butcher after we were relegated in 2009, he was just a nothing player, totally nondescript, good at nothing, just a space filler. When we won the league that season, Butcher introduced all the players on the day we got the trophy with a little line about them ("the fastest, best winger in the league Jonny Hayes... deadly goalscorer Adam Rooney" that sort of thing. When Startford came up Buthcer said "It's Danny Stratford... he's a great guy!". MF - Larnell Cole. Came in on loan under Foran and was the epitome of those players that you see kicking about lower leagues. A youth player at Man utd and Fulham, he could look lik ea footballer but never did anything, doidn't contribute in any way really. Normally he'd have had one sub appearance but because we were so bad he managed to get into the side for a few spells, really really bad. MF - Darren Macaulay. We apparently purused him for a while, and were pleased to bag him. A promising League of Ireland star, he gave a few interviews about his teetotal healthy lifestyle and practice of yoga. Strange as when he got on the pitch he looked overweight and on at least one occasion had to be subbed as he was having a massive heads gone and was trying to kick everyone. Sent back to Derry City without much ceremony in the summer. FW - Scott Boden. Came in just before we got relegated, he was seen as being a potential gem plucked from the lower leagues in the style of Terry Butcher. Turned out he was completely out of his depth, every time he played he looked like someone who knew he wasn't good enough. His one league goal came when an opposing goalkeeper belted the ball against him and the deflection went in. FW - Felitciano Zschusschen. When we signed him after being relegated I thought he could do a job, a targetman is always useful. Turned out he was not useful, he was in fact useless. Absolutely appallingly bad and was quickly despatched back to the Dutch regional leagues. FW - Dani Lopez. After winning the Scottish cup, we decided to build a team for Europe by signing this guy. A Spanish jobber, he started our only European ties but failed to have any impact, a truly appalling player. Harsh on Piccolo though. I don’t think he was as bad as most make out. Would have Keown ahead of him.
