DrewDon Posted November 6, 2019 Share Posted November 6, 2019 It does come off as a bit arrogant and entitled to have a pop at other parties just for standing, but I don't think it's a great look for the Greens when the Tories are in such close contention and the only possible winners other than the SNP. If Wishart fails to get re-elected, then he's not convinced enough people to vote for him. That's not The Green Party's fault. Equally, those that vote Green in that constituency will do so knowing that there's a chance that the Tories will win the seat. Yet they did stand in 2015, when he won with a majority of over 9000 despite the Greens getting over 1000. It was so tight in 2017 because a lacklustre campaign and voter apathy saw him drop 5500 votes. It’s up to the SNP to fight a better campaign to ensure his vote comes out, not whine about other parties having the temerity to stand. I'm not a member of any party and usually vote Green on the list but what's the point of the Greens standing an SNP/ Tory marginal?
