SouthFan99
Is it right enough YM have pulled out of the league? Shame if true, results really haven't gone their way this season

GNU_Linux
Never nice to see a club having to withdraw from a league. Best of luck to them rebuilding & hopefully returning for next season. As an outsider to D&G is there a reason Dumfries YMCA have struggled so much compared to the other two Dumfries based clubs?

Quality attracts quality - it's all technically amateur in the SoS so can only assume there's a pull to the better sides for the better players. Heston also have their youth set-up to fall back on and recruit from. I remember chatting to a youth coach years ago about why Pollok's u21 set-up struggled and his POV was the better players would always go to the better clubs at that level... Knightswood etc..
GNU_Linux
Confirmed as official here END OF THE ROAD FOR DUMFRIES YMCA AS THEY DROP OUT OF LEAGUE AND CUPS Football 29-10-2019 THE South of Scotland League has been reduced to 15 teams with the announcement that Dumfries YMCA has dropped out of South football. The YM joined the South League and cup competitions for the 2014 - 15 season but have struggled most seasons and failed to win any trophies. This season they have played 12 matches and lost all 12 conceding 81 goals in the process. Richard Osborne, the Southern Counties FA secretary said it was with regret that he had to advise that Dumfries YMCA had informed him that they are unable to fulfil their remaining scheduled fixtures for season 2019-20. He said that all currently schedule YM matches in league and cup competitions would be postponed and that the executive committees of the Southern Counties, South League and Wigtownshire and District would meet shortly to discuss the matter. The YM competed in the Dumfries and District Amateur Football League (DDAFL)prior to its disbanding before siting to the South League and played their home matches at Dumfries High School. The club started off in the 1970’s playing in the youth leagues in Dumfries and Galloway but then decided to join the DDAFL League 2 in 1976 and soon achieved promotion to Division 1, winning a number of league championships and trophies before the league was disbanded in 2013. Their last game was on Saturday where they were beaten 8-0 at home to Bonnyton Thistle.
HibeeJibee
Far from "a good time" at the YMCA, ever since joining: League record 2014-15 ... 0 wins, 1 draw, 25 losses 2015-16 ... 2 wins, 0 draws, 24 losses 2016-17 ... 0 wins, 1 draw, 25 losses 2017-18 ... 2 wins, 0 draws, 26 losses 2018-19 ... 3 wins, 2 draws, 25 losses ... (finished above Annan SOS) 2019-20 ... 0 wins, 0 draws, 12 losses 7 wins 4 draws 137 losses They didn't have a prayer.
G-MAN
Can remember growing up watching my Dad playing, the football in Dumfries was excellent. 2 Amateur Leagues on a Saturday and 3 Sunday League Divisions. Can remember Ian McCall, Ted McMinn and a couple of Queens legends not to mention lots of excellent players who were quite happy staying in the Amateur Leagues.
