Oh dear! Yet more evidence of the failed state of Scottish Education.

I showed HOW there could be fewer foodbanks, I did not claim it would be a good thing.

If people didn't donate to foodbanks, foodbanks would close and those who use foodbanks would go hungry. Gifting food is not a new concept. When I grew up in the 60's and 70's our schools would create food parcels to give to the elderly and soup kitchens were being run by communities to help those who were poor, unemployed, or as often was the case, on strike.  The fact that communities choose to look after their own, donating food and time is actually a sign that we have a functioning and caring community - regardless of the political system or whomever is in power. I don't like the fact that food banks are seen as necessary, but the alternative of not being able to donate to those who need help is far less palatable to me than it clearly is to those who claim the fact that foodbanks exist is a disgrace.

Don't normally contribute here cos its not my election but this is pish. I too grew up in the 60s and 70s. Soup kitchens were there for those who had fallen through the cracks of the welfare system (e.g rough sleepers). The "food parcels for the elderly" at school were Christmas hampers which gave pensioners luxury items which they couldn't afford on the pension. There was a general acceptance that welfare should be at a level to meet people's basic needs.

Also (and I cbf finding and multi-quoting your other posts) the miner's strike and three day week was in 1974. Unemployment didn't hit  3 million until 1982 so any kind of link between the two is more pish.

I’ve noticed that the Tories up he’s re seem to be standing very random candidates.

The Motherwell & Wishaw one for example seems to be a complete moron, continuously quoting Thatcher, and attacking people for having the audacity to campaign on Remembrance Day.

The Lib Dems are a total irrelevance. What the fucks the point of Swinson visiting the flood affected areas around Doncaster and mouthing off hollow pledges to spend 10 Billion on flood prevention measures?

Are all those suffering from seeing their homes wrecked, etc, now going to be thinking that if only we had had a Lib Dem Govt in place this would never have happened?

If it had been a previous leader he would have told them it was God's retribution for the only gay in the village.

Probably.

I know you shouldn’t place too much emphasis on vox pops, but just caught one on BBC Breakfast in Bishop Auckland where a small business owner says he’s voting Conservative because he needs Brexit uncertainty to be solved (Tories fault), Boris has been trying to solve it but doesn’t have a majority (his own fault) and the hospitals are a mess (Tories fault).

I’m seething.

Conversation with the mother in law recently. I live in England. This is a woman who works 50 hours a week in 2 jobs to make ends meet, doesn't own her own home and I suspect has little in the way of pension provision. I didn't get out of her who she will be voting for but she won't be voting for Labour because Corbyn "terrifies" her. When pressed on this she was unable to elaborate. I suspect she will vote for the tories to "get brexit done". People down here are so consumed with getting out of the EU that they haven't stopped for a moment to think how the next government is going to affect their lives in any other way. We live in a fairly safe tory seat so in reality this sort of thing probably won't make too much difference here but I'm sure its replicated across the country. When you ask them why they want out of the EU they can't even give proper reasons apart from the usual sound bites about "being ruled from Brussels" etc

That is tory porn right there. Way sexier than saying he wants to pay less business tax and employment rights to be rolled back on national TV. Doing the Tory PR machine work for them while they rub their chubs.

I find it utter bizarre that if asked 5 years ago about their thoughts on the EU, half of Brexit voters would struggle to tell the basic concept of what the EU is.

The morons have been brainwashed by the media.

Social conditioning overdrive for the last 10 years will do that to most.

Aye "luxuries" like jam and tins of soup.

I said i grew up in the 70s and 80s so it covers the 8 year period and the only link i gave was the financial hardship.

The revisionist pish people write on here does my tits in. Even worse is when people like you interject without reading the post properly
