I'm almost as pissed off with the immediately local picture, as I am with the UK one.

It's absolutely bloody baffling.  This corner of Scotland used to be affluent, but it hasn't been so for ages.  We now live in a place with very low wages, and vaulting poverty.

I hardly know anyone who'd admit to voting Tory, but here we are.  How many in this part of the world can actually be farmers?  It's as inexplicable as it's dreadful.

Legacy of this is that Remainers could easily have forced a second referendum in Parliament if they could have left their egos at home and agreed on a caretaker PM to deliver it. And Blair and his chums ran the worst, most patronising and ignorant campaign in history with "The People's Vote!".

Have to wonder what would have happened if one Labour MP (forget who it was) hadn't signed Corbyn's nomination papers so he could stand for the Labour leadership in the interests of Corinthian fair play and broadening debate within the party. Another Blairite clone would almost certainly have been acceptable to the Lib Dems and Tory rebels as a caretaker PM a few weeks back, might have won against Theresa May back in 2017 and would almost certainly have made an effort to galvanise support for Remain during the referendum. There's also a good chance that the DUP wouldn't have been quite so hell bent on propping up the Tories if the main alternative for PM wasn't somebody who appeared to many people to strongly sympathize with the Provos back in the 80s.

That's the boy. I'd forgotten about them having 720 as well, loved that game on the Spectrum. If I could give a second greenie for a brief flicker transmitting from somewhere in the back of my brain to my trouser region from remembering Debbie Greenwood, please be assured I would be all over it. Wikipedia indicates Coia is still married to her, jammy bassa.

ETA - I think I've also gotten myself confused with Jane Franchi, and am thinking of Superscot for her, which involved no 8-bit shenanigans, bar the haircuts

Louise Batchelor also presented First Class, that's who you might be confusing with Jane Franchi.

Caravanning enthusiast Margaret Beckett iirc. Not sure if the alternatives were up to revitalising the Labour Party given the mad new zeitgeist though.

Whatever happened to Ad Lib? I remember a couple of amusing photos/gifs being posted when he ran for Lib Dems in 2015.

He's been the go-to guy on all things House of Commons, and has featured regularly on TV and radio explaining how the whole thing works.

He also has a very informative twitter account - https://twitter.com/woodstockjag
