Peterhead v Raith Rovers

Recommended Posts

A well deserved 3 points , at last !. Thought we more than matched Raith all over the park. The double sub at half time worked for the away team as we ended up sitting deeper and deeper.  Superb strike from smith to seal the win. Thought hooper and leitch were stand outs today.  Just need this effort every week

Great strike from Smith?

From the bench?

How many red cards has Davidson had for us? Must be more than 10. A straight red for dissent is actually quite impressive, must’ve said something horrendous. No wins in four, Falkirk win, we’re knocked off top, clocks go back. All sounds about right. Just as well we’re signing Ross Callachan or this week would be a write off.

Must have been questioning the parentage of the Ref, because he ( the ref) didnt hesitate with the red card.

Thanks for that.
Peterhead were poor.
What does that make Raith?

Not sure what you’re slavering on about, tbh.

We are historically awful at Balmoor so it’s not completely unexpected. We’ve also lost our best player in the last week, been told we won’t see Vaughan til fucking Christmas 2020 and decided to start Steven Anderson on the bench. Couple those things with McGurn having another brain fart and it’s pretty easy to see where we went wrong. Davidson being sent off whilst 2-0 down, whilst frustrating, shouldn’t be the least bit surprising to anyone of a Rovers persuasion. A veteran centre half who routinely gets sent off for dissent is fucking embarrassing. Get sent off for 2 booking or even a bad tackle, but to be sent off for chatting shit to the ref is just brainless.

We need to get ourselves sorted out for next week. As ever, league 1 being the bat shit stupid league it is, Stranraer bodied Clyde today so they’ll have their tails up coming to Stark’s no doubt. Could do with a performance from Armstrong and Dingwall. The former hasn’t showed up since his (re)introduction v Falkirk.

I was being sarcastic with your post.

We've played as well as that in a few games this season, but havent managed to convert it into wins.....or even draws!

We should have won against Dumbarton last week but couldn't score for love nor money.

Your keeper did help us on our way with the blunder, and maybe that was the break we needed.

As for the big number 4, christ knows what he was thinking, but he made a bad situation into an impossible one, but as you point out it seems it's an habitual thing with him.

Maybe time to show him the door?

For a player of Davidson’s experience to get sent off for foul and abusive language defies belief, particularly given our selection issues. The sad thing is that it comes as no surprise at all. He should be ashamed of himself but he won’t be. Stupidity and arrogance are a lethal combination. f**k off Davidson.

Pretty rotten performance from all involved.

The only player to do anything positive was Grant Anderson. We tried to play tippy tappy at the back and you could see the pressure building. Eventually, McGurn sliced a ball hes trying to clear before its knocked back in.

It has to be mentioned, that in the run up Daniel Armstrong got scythed down where it looked like a shout for a free kick. Peterhead deserved their win and were by far and away more up for it.

Second half was more evenly contested with Peterhead being limited to shots from outside the box. After a corner, there was a stramash where nobody could connect and its cleared for a Rovers throw outside the Peterhead penalty box. We lose possession and they charge up the pitch and score. It was eerily similar to the game where Vaughan did his second ACL in Brechin.

The only moment we came close was Jack Smith hitting the bar. Mcgurn shouldn't be starting and SAnderson should have started. We had no leadership or composure. I'm not sure if Ross Matthews even had a touch of the ball.

Dingwall isn't fit and isn't a natural winger. Neither of our forwards have any ability to hold up the ball or win headers. Armstring, Spencer and Miller weren't at the races. We really need to get back to 3-5-2.

Still, it's a ground ticked off the list.

Would say we got what we deserved for a change today, closed down Raith early which led to them making mistakes. The first goal was a howler from the keeper but he had no chance with the second. Raith had a wee period in the second half where we fell back a bit deep & was put under pressure but on the whole we were pretty comfortable. Thought the Raith player was going to stick the head on the ref, not sure what set him off but we know from past experience that Gavin Ross is easily upset. Not a very nice day but at least there was not a full on Balmoor breeze & the pitch handled the rain no bother. Just need to try & build on the win now & kick on.

McGurns mistake was awful but the blame has to lie with McGlynn.

If he is insistant that we play the keeper as some type of sweeper in all conditions then mistakes like this will happen.

The conditions were terrible today. It was a day to grind out a result and we couldn't.
