FT Glenrothes 2 Leith 1

What a difference seven days make!!

Glens needed an injury time winner but should have been out of sight by then, having a penalty saved and missing some great chances. Leith certainly didn't look like table toppers.

Ps, some result at Tweedmouth, 4-4 with LTHV.

Arniston Rangers 2-2 Craigroyston
Coldstream P-P Ormiston
Dalkeith Thistle 2-4 Dunipace
Easthouses Lily P-P Burntisland Shipyard
Edinburgh United 0-4 Haddington Athletic
Glenrothes 2-1 Leith Athletic
Hawick RAU 1-2 Heriot-Watt University
Inverkeithing Hillfield Sw. P-P St Andrews United
Preston Athletic P-P Kinnoull
Stirling University EOS 1-3 Oakley United
Tweedmouth Rangers 4-4 Lothian Thistle HV
Tynecastle 13-0 Peebles Rovers

Most of the obvious opportunities for home wins were postponed, but nevertheless Glenrothes and Tynecastle the only Conference B sides to prevail. Dunipace and Haddingon with solid away wins against capable opposition. Interesting draws for Craigroyston - only their 2nd point of the season - and Tweedmouth against a reviving LTHV.

So 'notionally':

Conference A    11-5    Conference B

A friend of mine who lives in Berwick went to the game, he told me that it was a very good game from Tweedmouth and a draw was fully deserved.

Tweedmouth should probably have more than 6pts they do: lost 6-5 to Edinburgh Utd... drawn 2-2 with Dalkeith and 3-3 at Glenrothes... lost 3-2 to Stirling Uni Eos and 2-1 at Arniston... led in several of those IIRC.

Scored 28 goals in 13 games.

Burgh would have been top of the league should we have won all our matches!!

Law of averages, if you concede more goals than you score, you will most likely be at foot of table. Doesn't matter, even if you score 100 goals in 13 matches

I took he game in as was in the area for the weekend. A classic match.

Tweedmouth deserved the win, but on another day LTHV could have had ten goals. LTHV couldn't defend Tweedmouth's long ball down the middle of their defence, conceding three goals in a similar manner

and at the bottom

A10 Ormiston v. B11 Tweedmouth Rangers

Quick scan through the results I make it 8-6 in cup competitions as well, for a total of:

Conference A 31 - 19 Conference B

Just had a look out of interest as I know we've played 3 additional games against teams from the other conference already as well.

Conference B close up ever so slightly on Conference A's total.

With the derbies over Christmas, New Year and the Premiership winter break there isn't another full card of inter-conference games until Saturday 1st February - just partial cards mixed-up with Conference A and Conference B games for the next 6 weeks - so it may be some time until fuller pictures re-emerges... For example Arniston, Dalkeith, Easthouses and Edinburgh United play among themselves in Conference A for 3 weeks whereas Stirling Uni EOS play only inter-conference games.
