November Squad (vs Cyprus & Kazakhstan)

Always interesting to hear in press conferences/interviews how the Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland players love playing for their country, you can see how much they want it.

Can't recall anyone saying that since Christian Daily. It's a telling sign no one gives a f**k.

Playing for Scotland is a chore that no one seems to enjoy. Pretty sure its the SFA to blame for that.

This part is rubbish - you hear Scotland players saying this fairly regularly.

Can't recall that, at least not in a passionate way. Do they really mean it? do you get the feeling they want it as much as Bale for Wales?

We also have also way more call offs through “injuries “ and use much more players than these teams.

No coincidence we are much worse than them as well

Darren Fletcher is the obvious one. More recently, Stephen O'Donnell was in tears in his post-match interview after his debut. They're just two that spring immediately to mind - there are no doubt several other examples.

There are tons of guys who quite clearly care a great deal about playing for Scotland - the likes of Gordon, Alexander, McFadden, Pressley, McManus, Caldwell, Whittaker, Bannan, Miller, Hartley.

Even in the current squad, there are loads of guys who clearly "want it" - if you look at the squad regulars, the likes of Marshall, Mulgrew, McKenna, McGinn, McGregor, Russell, Naismith are clearly passionate about playing for us.  A lot of the fringe players are in the same boat.

There are definitely guys that aren't bothered - Fraser, McBurnie and Tierney being the most obvious, but I'd we have loads of players for whom the absolute pinnacle of their career is playing for Scotland.

So why is there utterly no spirit on the pitch? Some of the defending against Belgium was like they just couldn't be bothered.

We aren’t very good , we get lots of bad results which means lots of meaningless games which players don’t give a shit about .

The last couple of chances for players to gel, ahead of a home semi final, to get to effectively a home tournament, isn't meaningless and is something the players should give a shit about

Although he's been utter mince, Cyprus at home apart, I hope Burke gets another chance. There is something there.

Just don't stick him up front. Play him on the wing.

Playing him on the wing seems pointless though - you don't get any end product whatsoever which means he contributes nothing to the team. The only exception would be if he's against a full-back who is particularly slow or weak physically, when he will obviously bully them. At least when he's playing centrally, he can disrupt the opposing defenders and generally cause a bit of havoc.

Having said that, Naismith appears to be starting tonight so you'd imagine he'll be the number 9.

While that may be true, he’s been regarded as a right sided player most of his career. He should be at least capable of doing a job.

It's possible to be passionate and utterly demoralised. Often it's those who care the most whose heads drop when things go badly.
