Stoke.

An absolute shithole filled with backwards racist arsehole.

Cardiff is filled with arseholes.

If they get fed up they could do a swap.

I stayed in Bristol for 4 years in the late 1980s. I can't say I was made to feel overly welcome for the most part by the native English. I used to mostly hang out with other migrant workers. In saying that, Bristol seems to have become more liberal in recent years, strongly voting remain in the Brexit debacle and it always had potential as a cultural location. There was a thriving, slightly underground soul music scene, the Western Star Domino Club was fantastic on a Friday night, where you also got a glimpse of the young black kids celebrating the hip hop stuff that was on the rise.

I realise that I seem to be bigging the place up, but there was a lot of anti-Scottish sentiment I had to deal with at the time. Glad to see Bristol appears to have moved on though...

Maybe it was just you...

Has Fleetwood been mentioned yet? Accidentally spent a day there on holiday a few years ago. Wandered around for ages looking for something, *anything* to do. Sod all apart from an inexplicably-located "designer village" of overpriced shops a little outside the town boundaries.

Having lived in NE England for a good few years now I'll add my voice to those nominating Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Whitley Bay (although WB has allegedly been spruced up a bit in recent times).

I'll also mention North Shields. If you think South Shields is bad...

Actually add anywhere in and around Merseyside.

Permanently angry criminals with an awful accent thrown in.

Indeed but anywhere which embraces the use of "Strand" shouldn't be quite as unremittingly bleak as it is when the reality strikes you.

I taught in Barking in East London for 4 years, and these are all things that happened within 100 yards of my classroom in that time:

People shagging in broad daylight within view of the class.

People sh*tting in broad daylight within view of the class.

People shooting up within view of the class.

All the cars in the staff car park being broken into.

Several mass brawls with weapons.

A rape

A murder

A serial killer dumping his victims' bodies.

It still wasn't as grim as Blackpool though.

Did these things stop happening when you left? [emoji848]

Here's a handy guide to the nice parts of the UK (excluding Scotland).

I’m not having it. To name just a few places: That map includes Brixton where the term “eat your kids” originated and Millwall and where they recently filmed the remake of the film Towering Inferno.

To be fair to Merseyside, there are a lot of very nice towns & villages around here. Where it is shit it is spectacularly world class shit however.
