Derry Alli
I wonder if the Fifers will try and keep this fallacy up as long as they tried to keep their "unplayable" and "unbelievable" one from the start of the season up. Common sense would say - no, slink off. You can't put anything past these "look at us, we are relevant" lot though.

VinnyPar
Barry Nicholson is the most technically gifted player to ever have played for us, Adam Hammill is second. Willie Gibson was easily good enough to play in the EPL, if it wasn't for his mentality and lack of work rate he'd have been a Scotland regular and a much richer man than he is. Andy Kirk is the club's best striker of the modern era Gary Mason > Hartley, Brown and Ferguson If AJ had started Faiss in the final game of the league 1 winning season, we'd be playing in the premiership right now. Jan-Yves M'Voto was the best centre back at the club when he was released. Jim McIntyre was an atrocious manager for us, he owes his career in football management to Martin Hardie and Kevin Rutkiewitcz, the former producing the best form of his career to prevent him bottling the title to the Wee Team. If we hadn't sacked Leishman (the first time) we'd be the 3rd biggest club in Scotland currently. If Jeffries had won the Cowden game he'd be up there with Paton and Leishman as a club legend. We only got to the cup final in 07 because Jim Hamilton dived. Dorus De Vries is the best goalkeeper to ever have played for the club. Mvoto was not better than Callum Morris, but definitely better than Ashcroft.
Reid
Aaron Muirhead was far better then Conrad Balatoni in out 12/13 promotion season.
D'Jaffo
Aaron Muirhead was far better then Conrad Balatoni in out 12/13 promotion season.Never got it with Balatoni. He was pretty poor with us and it wasn’t simply a case of playing with shite players. Compared to Muirhead who’s looked really solid this season despite Falkirk fans telling us he’s shite.
Benjamin_Nevis
On the anniversary of Claudio Caniggia signing for Dundee... I realise that I wish he and all the too-good-to-be-true never happened, as we saw practically nothing back for them aside from the groundwork for 2 admins and over a decade of missed opportunities.Yup. Fucking wild that there are fans who think it was all worth it for a 6th place finish and some occasionally free flowing attacking football. When it (rarely) clicked it was sublime, more often it was gutless collapses, ridiculous indiscipline and risible defending.

Jacky1990
Although rightfully a club legend, Kris Doolan wasnt/isnt that good a striker and is only fanned over so much because of his longevity, the abject standard of most of our other strikers the past decade and the fact he is an all round good guy. Unbelievable first touch mind.

Compared to Muirhead who’s looked really solid this season despite Falkirk fans telling us he’s shite. Balatoni was good for us when we won the league but not as great as many of our fans make out. He was pretty poor in the Premiership after that. The fact that he’s a great guy, bit of a character and interacted with fans on Twitter enhanced a lot of people’s opinion on him. All IMO, of course.

Had we opened up Killie would of picked us off. Correct, however once it became clear that we were not going to get battered, he should have changed those tactics with a view to actually winning the game. He had no plan other than to cling onto a 0-0 draw and get to penalties. With 20 minutes to go, Mark Roberts should have been on and we should have went for it. Waiting on Killie to score was his mistake.
AyrTroopMajor
1. For all the hatred of South Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Executive, building a new stadium would have been the worst mistake that Ayr United could ever have made. See the example of Airdrieonians as a prime example of why. 2. The Railway End would be a better 'Home End' than the Somerset Road End 3. The period where Mark Roberts was reliant on Somerset Boab's absolutely rancid tunes to increase his transfer budget is the worst period in the club's history. 4. the number one shirt should be retired in honour of Ludovic Roy*. D'Jaffo
You're gonna have to elaborate on this one for us...In short there was a guy who had a persona called “Somerset Boab” and he wrote and sang songs about Ayr and players to raise money for the club. He also brought out a pie called the “Boaby Pie”. He fell out with the club a few years back but I don’t think anyone really knows why, only speculation.

It was fine initially, but writing lyrics lauding Mikey Donald for his spectacular performance against East Fife was cataclysmic levels of cringe.

Unbelievable first touch mind. Double figures goal tallies for 8 consecutive seasons (5 of which were in the top flight) suggests he’s been a pretty good striker in his time with us. He achieved this despite not always being a regular starter either, and spent time behind Steven Craig, Lyle Taylor, Ade Azeez and Mathias Pogba (ugh) at various times across those seasons, but almost always produced when required* But I kind of get why you’ve said what you have about him above. Kris Doolan was probably in the perfect situation at Partick Thistle. Thrived in the environment of being a rotational striker, and had bursts of great form at crucial times when he did get a run in the starting lineup. Just not quite good enough to step up to a Hearts or Aberdeen type club where he maybe would have felt more pressure, but comfortable in his surroundings and role at a decent level. *up until last season, where I think we saw a pretty sharp decline.

I thought Muirhead was the one player from that team who would really go somewhere in his career, but was just never the same player after his injury in the first season in the Premiership - he just couldn’t get back up to speed at the higher level.
