Controversial Statements About Your Club

Recommended Posts

There is a difference between controversial and wrong. Aird badly exposed the full back he played with when defending and for that reason alone he can't be described as brilliant.

Aye they linked well going forward, however Martin was often raging at him for not tracking his runner and leaving him facing a 2 on 1.

Danny Devine wasn't as bad as was made out last season and has looked worse this season

We've not had a great manager since Bert Paton

Our fans seem to know nothing about football and often give our best players the hardest time.

Also 1 for another club, Ayr United's ground is terrible, the terrace is in a bad state of repair, the view isn't great and the toilet is awful. Brechin's ground shits all over it in terms of a traditional ground

Just now, Leonard Cohen said:

Gordon Dalziel was a shite manager, and the period of time were we had Bill Barr's millions was a MASSIVE missed opportunity and not a glory-time.

Agree with this. There were some absolute stars in that team. Being unable to win that division with a front two of Annand and Grady, while being supported by McGinlay, Sheerin and Teale is an utter riddy and does point to being poorly led imo.

Nicky Clark has been our best striker since Andy Kirk.

James Vincent should have been kept and wasn't as bad as made out to be.

First one, yes (although mark 1 El Bak runs him close for the League 1 winning season).

Second one, agree he wasn't as bad as made out but think he needed to go.

Nah, Devine was howling last season.

Agree about Bert. Caldwerwood was a good manager but not great. Bert is of course the biggest legend in the history of the club though. Not sure anyone will ever  match him.

Agree about your third line! Some of the stuff you hear is ludicrous. "All Clarke does is score!". Oh no, not goals! The worst!

There are people who genuinely think that was a great time for the club. Many of the players we had back then were comfortably good enough for the Premier League, so to allow an absolute clown to manage the team for SEVEN years is disgraceful.

One Cup Final and three semifinals or not, by the end of 2002 the previous seven years may as well have never happened.

I'll go;

- The North Stand should be shut for regular league and cup games

- Goal music should never be played at East End

- East End is a bit rubbish and a total white elephant. It's looking dated due to the faded seats and looks really poor due to how many empty seats there are. It's not conducive to attracting new fans either

- Charlie D's doesn't work as a pub and needs totally redesigned

- Legends is a huge wasted opportunity and it's down to complacency and outright laziness

- We are not a big club or some sort of sleeping giant

- The club need to stop giving inflated attendances. It's fooling no one as is daft. It also hides that our attendances are falling

- We will never play in Europe again

- We'll never win the Scottish or League Cup again (or for the first time in the case of the League Cup)

Wow, sounds like you should just liquidate the club now.
Not sure why anyone would make the last point you did though, completely plausible that any premiership or championship team could win the Scottish cup at some point in the future.

Except Dundee.

Not controversial, just down right upsetting. As such I'll not be returning to this thread for a while, thanks.

FWIW, East End is one of my favourite grounds in the country.

You can paint the seats dark blue and we'll tow it up the A96, if you like.

Simon Donnelly was a good player for us (and was right to take that penalty against the ****)

I always thought Simon Donnelly did the best he could for us with absolute jobbers around him. Still had a great football brain, and the rest of them just weren’t on that level, which made him look worse than he probably was.
