Ayr United’s Next Permanent Manager

Recommended Posts

Just listened to sportsound from last night with Adams and Hughes as guests.

Good news is Derek Adams has ruled himself out.

John Hughes says he enquired about it weeks ago and was told Stewart was getting the job but he’s now been put off by ‘mixed messages’ in that we are interviewing for the role. Sounds like he wanted a red carpet rolled out.

Good news all round.

We’ve clearly just told Hughes that so he wouldn’t apply.

Have the interviews been at Somerset? So I’m presuming you know who has been in?

No interviews at Somerset , been carried out around the country , I think that’s why you will notice no one is aware of who it is , good move by Lachlan , gets everyone’s grey matter working

This has the feeling that we’re building to a massive anticlimax. 😀

No matter who gets it there will still be an anticlimax for some fans , the right man to take us forward in the future will get it , remember it’s a different role from McCalls , this manager must nurture players from reserves into first team mainstays, McCall practically never attended reserve matches , the new guy needs to develop the squad not relying on loan players all the time

What an egotistical fanny refusing to have to go through an interview process 😆

If it’s not announced today then the internal team of Stewart and Kerr haven’t got it, what would be the point of waiting to midweek plus it would give the players a massive boost if they got it bofere the game.

AFAIK it will be Monday / Tuesday , interviews only finished last night , Lachlan needs to then take time to decide who has the job and also do the proper thing and contact and explain to the guys who did not get the job the reasons why ,

Wearing Thistle gear and telling the local punters how important It was to get the red and yellow back into Thistle.

Can’t wait to see him stumbling around pubs in Ayr, when we’re back in League One, saying how crucial it is that Pandemonium gets his mojo back and how dear to his heart Ayr are.

I would agree that there will be an anticlimax whoever is appointed. Whilst bringing youth through and producing our own talent is the way forward assuming we get them on contracts and dont let them leave for nothing! I dont think we should discount young loans just look at Kelly and Doohan. I think we should also be trying to pick up the best young talent released by prem clubs (ala Shankland, Smith, Rose & Harvie etc.) and then selling them on.

Crucially, we need to be signing players on more than one year contracts. I'm fed up of losing good players for nothing.

Also, our january recruitment is usually pretty poor. However, our summer recruitment is on the whole good.

Darren Young has confirmed that his thoughts will be firmly on todays East Fife match despite being linked with the Ayr job. Taking that at face value, he's either going to be appointed or hasn't been told yet.

It’s another McCall situation. He’s going into today potentially knowing that it’s his last game, just like McCall did with the Alloa game.
