Few  meaty ties this weekend.

You've got the Champions Cup Semi-Final between on form Glasgow South and a strong physical Kirky Thistle.

In the Prem you've got:
East Dunbartonshire vs Uddy (Both on form teams in the division)
Westy vs a resurgent and strong UB
Tynecastle vs Southside

Other divisions you've got
Nicos vs Southpark (Good things being heard)

Good to see Netherton finding their feet quite quickly in comparison with other new teams from North Lanarkshire in the past few seasons. Cleland and Newmains taking a season or so to find their way, taking 6, 7 and 8 nil pastings every week, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Netherton.
Perhaps the folk running them have learned due to the involvement with founding other teams. Good to see.

Have UB got back on track? Seen they were really toiling pre season (as a lot of teams do). Good news if they have.

Played Cleland in pre-season and difference from starting is night and day good to see them promoted in their first season in GDSML last season club ran by good guys and easy to throw in towel if things don't start well.

Newmains seem to settling well after moving also again hope it works out well enjoyed my time there and seems they finally have a settled management team and squad in place to allow them to build going forward.

For us we are more than happy with how things are progressing there is a lot to work on and further aspirations but it will take time as we are hoping that will be done with the group we currently have building and improving together. Really good group of guys and with them all being 19-26 there is plenty of growth to do something long term as a club I feel.

Manhattan Blacks v Nicos - 23rd November - should be a topper!

Looking forward to it, should be a great game especially if at Holme park.

Unable to play myself due to work commitments down south, but definitely think our lads will be ready to have a go. Nico's are the team to beat this season so will be good to test ourselves following  a good run of form.

Moorlands 6-1 Netherton.

Terrible all over the park from us on Saturday. Only positive was the quality of our goal and getting one of our players minutes in his first competitive game in 18 months following injury.

Moorlands to their credit were very good but didn't have to put much fight up for their goals and the result.

Tough one for us this weekend as we host Southpark.

SLC had a howler on saturday, didnt call our game away to Moorlands off and waited on the ref to do so. -5 when we arrived at Hamilton Palace.

Shocking that teams travel all that way to have a game called off (albeit everyone know it would be called)

Few meaty ties this weekend.

Prem see's:

Airdrie, fresh off their Champions Cup win, host the impressive and fancied Uddingston!
Glasgow South host a resurgent UB United

Champ A:

Maryhill host the only team that's beat them domestically this season (iirc), PGA
Springburn are looking to move within 2 pts of PGU

Champ B:

Manhattan are bidding to stay top when they play Southpark away from home.
Moorlands are looking to take advantage of any Manhattan slip up when they play Overtoun at home.
If both of the above 2 slip up, then Nicos could go top with a game in hand when they play bargeddie at home.

Strathclyde cup:

Huntershill host Bengal Lancers in the last 16
ED Play KRR
Netherton play Holytown as above
WOS play Blackthorn - the winners playing the winners of Bengal/huntershill away in the last 8

Netherton 0-5 Holytown.

Not there at the weekend. Apparently started fairly brightly and had a goal ruled out for a tight offside at 1-0 before capitulation as soon as it went 2-0.

Two games in a row it's happened now nowhere near good enough.

Same opponent this weekend in the league.

  • 4 weeks later...

Back to league action tomorrow. We wrapped up 2019 with a 3-1 defeat to Holytown. Really good performance for first hour then lost a goal and a man within a couple of minutes each other and never really recovered from it.

4-0 win over Newmains United at the weekend to set us up for a home league game with Bargeddie who we look for revenge over after a terrible performance and 2nd half capitulation against them in August.

MBFC 0 - Southpark 3

Odd one for us, had a semi decent first half and should've scored a couple, but ended up 1-0 down against what I thought was the run of play (from the subs bench). We didn't come out the second half and conceded some shite goals from our point of view, not taking any credit away from SP.

Southpark totally deserved win, a good team and difficult to break down, keeper had a few wonder saves. Overall a great addition to the league, some quality players but overall a solid team.

Hopefully never have to play in conditions like that again, at points you couldn't see the other half of the pitch for the rain.

Always next week, away to Kirky Rob Roy

Anyone know what the script is with fixtures? Were onto playing teams twice without playing Netherton or Broomhouse? Cups affecting fixtures or?

Netherton 1-2 Bargeddie

Game of two halfs at the weekend for us and probably summed up our first season as a club.

Shaky first 5/10 minutes with our goalkeeper making some excellent saves before we took control and dominated the first half taking the lead with a 30+ yard free kick into the top corner. Failed to add to our lead and got punished for it 2nd half. Conceded from a corner after 3 or 4 chances to clear our lines then Bargeddie won it with a great strike from about 20 yards which ended up hitting the post then our keeper then the bar before bouncing in. Had chances in 2nd half but nothing really clear cut and our keeper had 2 or 3 outrageous saves to keep us in it. Bargeddie got a late red card but never really looked like testing them at the end.

Frustrating as f**k because 1st half showed what we are capable of performance wise but 2nd half nowhere near good enough from us.

KRR 3 - MBFC 1

Brutal start to the second half of the season continues for us, weren't up for it at all today which is disappointing considering its our local derby. Outfought and outmatched by an organised KRR side, 100% deserved 3 points.
