Trek all the way through to Glasgow and then out to the east end to watch a football game then decide to save a measly £3 by going for a seat with a restricted view. I don't live in Scotland any more, so when I'm home I'm keen to get to as many games as I can. If Hearts have a free Saturday, I'll go to whatever I can. In recent years that has almost always been lower league football. Usually League One or Two, simply because Premiership (and often Championship) football is now priced at such a level that pretty much anyone who isn't a committed fan of one of the clubs playing will simply dismiss the prospect of going to the game completely. The clubs have priced out the casual attender, and that seems insane to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lower league day out. But it'd be nice if the Premiership games were an option too. It wasn't always like this. I remember back in the 90s as a kid I'd often go to games with my dad as a neutral when Hearts had a free Saturday or we didn't fancy the Hearts game for whatever reason. Went to games all over the place and even though we weren't a particularly wealthy family, it was a reasonably affordable thing to do. I'd usually pay in with my paper round money. Even early 21st century I remember going to SPL games as a neutral on free Saturdays with my brothers or mates and not fussing too much about the price. Fir Park, Rugby Park, Dens, Firhill, even Hibs a couple of times just to watch a game. Nowadays that's almost unimaginable. It's priced in such a way that you just wouldn't do that. Green Day Posted September 6, 2019 Share Posted September 6, 2019 Its all related to the other (but related) debate about us fans are paying for the shitey TV deal and shitey sponsorship deal for the league. We were amazed at ticket prices in Norway the other year when we played Molde - couldnt quite fathom why a ticket was so cheap - £10 for a Euro tie, exceptional value when you consider its about £16 a pint over there............. How can they charge such low prices? Simple, the sponsors pay a decent rate and the fans dont get gouged. Will go to the home games and maybe a few away games/cup games (£14 at Forfar was class) but for me most away games this season will be sat behind a laptop on hesgoal.com. Absolutely gouging fans these days, ourselves included but it's ineptitude knowing that people WILL pay it and clubs need to stay competitive. Vote with your feet and get it to f**k Unfortunatly one of the downfalls for our succsess in getting to the Premier League has been a significant rise in addmisions to away games.One of the reasons why we have such a small but loyal band of supporters who attend these games.Football is an expensive hobby these days and its understandable why so many are so selective as to when and where to attend.Fact 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As has been said thought, the useless slabs at the SFA aren't selling our game to sponsors well enough for us to be able to put something like that in place. Most clubs have increased the prices for wheelchair users as well which I personally don't have a problem with as long as you get a decent view of the game. However the view at some grounds (Hearts stuck behind a 6" barrier at eye level, at Celtic, stewards sitting right in front of you, at Kilmarnock, photographers insisting on blocking your view, at Accies waiting to see if they sell out the away stand before sitting you in the "gazebo" otherwise being stuck behind the goal ) i could go on but it is what it is so my son and I just don't bother going to most away games anymore. The recent price rises just put the tin lid on it for me. It would actually be very interesting if someone kept a record of away supports this season because already I see a reduction in away attendances at Fir Park (Old Firm excepted) compared to previous seasons. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We are now talking about getting little to no change from £30 a some grounds. That is probably the breaking point for me.You add in travel, food and beers and you’re getting to the thick end of £100 for an afternoon.
