Colville park folded

If it sounds a bit cynical, they were always gonna fulfil their fixture in the Big Scottish and thereafter collect the cheque and disappear into the sunset. They aren't  the first and wont be the last big Club to disappear. Amateur football is in the throws of an ever decreasing spiral.

Whilst there is no doubting their success it was always built around identification and attracting top players from across the central belt. They never had any real community identity and therefore when Mick moved on the players hadn't same loyality to the Club that you might find in some other teams.

Still a sad day as another Club disappears.

What does that mean then mate?

A relief of fixtures means that Colville won't have to fulfil their remaining fixtures (relieved of the burden of trying to field a team) but will still retain their association membership, bud.

Really sad day today if it’s the case that Colville have folded, when we joined the league in 2007/8 Drum Utd had just won the Scottish and were about to dominate with Colville Park doing there best to keep up with the great team John Black had but imo Colville were that club that teams envied with there tremendous pitch and great setup and committee that seemed like an institution at our level. Just goes to show you that when it comes down to it no club is safe from the type of issues that can lead to club going to wall. Feel for Andy and Joe who’ve givin so much to their club.

End of the day they never had a sustainable set up under Mick. He managed to attract players through whatever avenues he used but nearly all the players were not from the area in the end. Once the manager goes and takes a host of players to play at a level they should all of been at anyway, it was never going to continue. The committee then decided to appoint a manager again not from the area who for whatever reason didn't have the pull that Mick did when bringing in players. A couple of poorly attended training sessions and the remaining players that Mick left, get up and go back local or to other clubs who have managed to snap them up.

Sad days when any club folds but just goes to show that they were a club held together by a manager.  They weren't a club who represent to me what amateur football is all about. Bringing communities and pals together and creating a legacy. In 50 years time Colville will just be that team who had a short period of success and are no more. In Micks time he fell out with the guy at Colville Park and moved sponsorship and pitch and effectively just played under the name with no real local identity. The committee were happy for this to happen for years and reap the benefits of the success but any smart committee person at amateur level would of realised it wasn't sustainable.

I didn’t fall out with the the country club the football club did. The committee made the decision to move to Dalziel not me, I fully supported the decision

Really sorry to hear this.

Obviously been a very difficult few months for the guys at Colville and can imagine the hard work that has went in to trying to prevent it coming to this.

U guys & ur Club should be looking forward to celebrating 50 years next year and I hope u can build things back up and go again next season.

Best wishes.

Sad to hear the of the situation at Colville. The model which Colville park operated under the last few years was never sustainable and the fact is the current situation unfortunately proves it.,that’s not a dig, just an observation. I genuinely hope they re group and go again, although they would need a lot of assistance in committee personnel, management and players, however if there is a genuine will to take them forward and sensible long term decisions are made, then you never know, and I for one hope they do

They will go down as one of the most successful amateur teams, and clubs would have loved there success, but was the price too much? only the people involved in it will be able to answer that.

Hope to see Andy and Joe out and about at amateur games throughout the season, as a couple of good guys
