I'm building a new PC from scratch and will be doing a fresh install of W10 (still running 7 at the mo, err not activated we'll say).

Is it possible to download the ISO from Microsoft and complete a new install without a key, then buy a key and activate later? Or would I need the key first to use during install.

Really just trying to get a legit copy without spending upwards of 80 quid and have to get an external DVD drive to do it. Ideally just stick an ISO on a USB drive and boot from there.

Cheers both. I was reading some kinguin reviews and basically it's about 30 quid if you buy their purchase protection. Better than full whack so that looks like a shout.
