Lowland in the Scottish Cup 2019-20

R1 being drawn tonight on Sportscene (BBC Scotland - 7:15pm).

Ties due Saturday 21st September - one tie will be shown live on that channel at 7:05pm on Friday 20th September, though my prediction is it'll possibly be an 'interest story'... e.g. BFKH, Fort William, Auchinleck, Edusport... and not necessarily the 'top tie' on paper.

LL clubs will no doubt want to avoid each other and the 4 EOSL and the 3 Junior clubs progressing from PR2 - mostly at least. Much of HL would be desirable... last season such matchups ended in a near-rout.

Brora, Berwick, EK and BSCG only join in R2.

Kelty v Auchinleck - tie of the round - Televised?

When Fort William were drawn at home I thought that will definitely be televised, but then this came out of the hat... Surely this is the obvious choice for a live game? That's promising to be a cracker.

Stick-on IMO.

Fascinating ties in Kelty-Auchinleck and Fraserburgh-Bonnyrigg.

Tough asks for Edinburgh Uni/Cumbernauld/Gretna.

Otherwise all very winnable, and only 1 all-LL clash.

Inverurie v Wick
Broxburn v East Stirlingshire
Fort William v Vale of Leithen
Forres v Banks o'Dee
Strathspey v Lossiemouth
Kelty v Auchinleck
Buckie v Civil Service Strollers
Fraserburgh v Bonnyrigg
Nairn v Clachnacuddin
Jeanfield/Linlithgow v Huntly
Edinburgh University v Lochee Utd
Cumbernauld v Penicuik
Gretna v Hill of Beath
Dalbeattie v Gala
Spartans v Deveronvale
Turriff v Formartine
Keith v University of Stirling
Caledonian Braves v Rothes

lochee united and edinburgh probably happy playing each other.

Lochee will be happy with that draw IMO. They pasted Burntisland, and comfortably dispatched LTHV in the end - Edinburgh Uni are another step-up in quality but wont be favourites.

kelty v talbot tie of round. sell out?

Big crowd, but that's perhaps optimistic... ground holds almost 3,000 and tie surely very likely to be on free-to-air TV at 7pm on Friday night.

Usually finish lower mid-table/upper bottom-end in LL.

Currently sat 13th. In all competitions they've only beaten - and scored against - Vale of Leithen.

Some overseas/long-distance students may just be back come mid-September.

Lochee played well against LTHV yesterday but failed to put the tie to bed in the first half, letting LTHV back into the game. Against better opposition like Edinburgh Uni that could be costly, but if they play well, they should be able to go go through.
