Interesting to look at the 'bottom 4'... Edinburgh Uni (3pts), Dalbeattie (3pts), Gretna (1pt) and Vale (0pts).

Gretna's draw with Cumbernauld was the first point any of those sides have taken other than against each other.

More startlingly: Dalbeattie have only scored 1 goal in 6 games; Vale have 2 in 6; Edinburgh Uni have 3 in 6; and Gretna have 3 in 5... Of those the Dalbeattie goal, one of Vale's goals, and all of Edinburgh Uni's goals were against each other: Vale (losing 5-1 at home to Gala) and Gretna (3-2 at Edusport + 9-1 at 'Shire) the others.

These sides are struggling to make headway v rest of LL currently.

These four would struggle in the EOS Premier as well.

And it'll take 4 years to empty all of them at this rate when you've got Linlithgow, Bo'Ness, Penicuik, Hill of Beath, Broxburn amongst others queuing up in the EoS. The protectionist 1 down needs to be increased.

If you make it 2 down then do you give the SOS an automatic promotion spot (probably lesser quality than the 2nd bottom team) or have them play off against the EOS 2nd place?

If you're working within the restrictions of the current pyramid leagues (LL, EOS & SOS) I would say that can be a starting point.

1a) Two licensed champions = both promoted

1b) One licensed champion and one unlicensed champion. Licensed champion promoted, playoff between licensed runners up for 2nd spot. Only one licensed runner up automatically promoted.

1c) Only one licensed champion or runner up they get promoted. 2nd bottom in LL get a reprieve.

If the SoS got an automatic promotion spot you'd end up with a WoS by default as a club akin to Kelty would move across.

I'm sure they'll look at it once the SPFL give the LL/HFL play off  winner  an automatic place, how many times does it have to be explained before the penny drops wi some folk, obviously the SPFL have their protectionist too :whistle

Why do the 2 need to happen simultaneously? The LL should be opening up more, as should the SPFL, but one can happen without the other.

You're the one who mentioned protectionist so you've practically answered yer own question why should the LL go 1st ?

2 up 2 doon is the way but dont think it happening anytime soon.

Cheers for the red by the way,Primary School stuff  😂😂😂

Maybe if they go first it shows a willingness to change and puts more pressure on the league clubs to facilitate an alteration to the current format.

Something needs to happen as right now the lack of movement up and down the pyramid isn't great.

Carpe et diem and all that jazz.
