Watched the highlights...

Watson’s cross for the first goal was nicely placed, his playing time has shown he’s a player at this level.

MacDonald is the real thing. He’s a part-timer, but if he wants to, it certainly seems he has the potential to do it full-time. Anyone know what he does for a job and how dug in he is?

Tait’s goal was nicely done.

The second East Fife goal blame goes to the backline. All four switched off.

Gullan has got his mojo back, and is looking very threatening.

Just imagining Miller and MacDonald playing together again is tasty.

When I saw the teams I honestly thought we'd win comfortably yesterday, but Raith absolutely won the midfield battle so despite us taking advantage of their patchwork defence it didn't matter. First half they had so much time on the ball, passes were short and sharp and the central players were driving through us so easily. We cannot play Agnew in the middle without Davo, it simply doesn't work. Absolutely no complaints from me, we improved second half but I honestly felt 5-3 flattered us.

My 50p on it all.

Raith looked well up for it, us not as much but still fairly up for it.
Both defences weren't great at all.
Mcdonald looks 5 times the player he was with us and even airdrie.
Regan Hendry had his best game I've seen from him and he was fucking outrageous at times which even though he was playing for yous was a joy to watch at times unfortunately.
We had chances which weren't converted.
We Need davo to be playing as he is vital to the team.

5 going on 10! Darren Young got it wrong Yesterday, we were all over the place. We were well beat by a Rovers reserve side who could only name 4 subs! No excuses, unacceptable performance in front of a packed Bayview! Hopefully we see a reaction against Montrose who comfortably beat us in the last game at Bayview.

By the sounds of that comment it was 5-0 again??

Their 5th goal was like our 4th in the last game. Its 8-8 on aggregate over the 3 games we have both played.

Plus reserves isnt really true is it.

Keeper has played last 9 games.

Watson last 3 (reserve number 1).

Benedictus is first team.

Mcdonald hasn't missed a game.

Mackay played last 9 and missed only a handful all season.

Grant Anderson is first team (last 10)

Hendry is first team.

Spencer first team.

Tait is (reserve number 2)

Gullen first team (missed two all season)

Baird first team (missed two all season)

TOTAL = 2 RESERVES

So the injury crisis they had was exact same as us.

We missed davo and had hunter in.

We missed Dunlop and had janny in.

Having 4 subs isn't ideal for them but you can only play 3 subs so isn't too big a deal when they are Bowie, Dingwall and Vitoria [emoji23][emoji23]

It is one game and still 17 to go till the end of the season default_smile.png

To be fair, the following players go straight into our best starting eleven.

Steven Anderson, Iain Davidson, Lewis Vaughan, Michael Miller, Ross Matthews.

That's before Allan, Armstrong and Smith who would have likely been on the bench.

Wasn't a reserve side by any means, but one still decimated by injuries. Still, with Hendry on the pitch in that kind of mood it helps massively.

Some of these players have only played because of our injury’s, like McKay for example. He’s only played due to suspension and injuries. He is our reserve center back. If we had a fully fit squad then chances are 5 of these players wouldn’t be starting. Baird is another one , he’s been bench boy since we signed him and only played as we have Lewis Allan out. Both Baird and MacKay have been in the squad but not necessarily starting.

We have 6-8 guys out from either suspensions or injuries. East fife have 2 as far as I can tell. We are lucky enough that we have signed boys that can fill in our gaps when we do have injuries.

If you guys had 6-8 players out one week do you really think you could score three against us or beat us? Realistically, probably not. If you struggle with 2 players out then you’d really be on your knees with 6-8 players out.

Watson Age 20  has played the last 3 games because we have injuries and suspensions

Mackay Age 21.     Has had to play due to injuries and suspensions

Tait  Age 18.            Same as above

Bowie Age 17.        Same as above

Munro Age 19.        Same as above but likely to return to parent club in the window due to Robbie Thomson now fully fit

All the above wouldn’t be playing if we didn’t have 8 players missing due to suspension and injury

Yet East Fife are missing 2 players and it’s a disaster but one thing it is highlighting is how poor East Fife’s youth development is and there lack of resources when encountering injuries it’s clear they have tried to sign quality instead of quantity and when injuries/suspensions bite you will struggle.

Rovers deserved their win Yesterday.Rovers got their tactics right Darren didn't. One criticism of Darren's management. When a player is back from suspension ie Pat Slattery they never get selected for the first team right away. He should ha e been playing in the position vacated by Davidson. We have a small squad and should always play the best players available.

Top team selection from McGlynn. Didn’t have to play Dylan Tait, the easy decision would’ve been a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 with Dingwall/Bowie playing, but he put his faith in Tait and it worked a treat. He’s a very good prospect for having just turned 18.

I really hated everything about that last half hour. We deserved to win the game and I think 5-3 was a bit flattering for East Fife in the end, but I really was certain we were blowing that. Bowie on for Baird was the key change, suddenly Bowie could harass the defence and get us up the park.

A very, very good day for us yesterday, making up for a bit of a disaster last week. And still with eight players out. Onto next week...

It is a bit, but then you do have to wonder how a reserve player becomes a 1st Team regular, how many games till he can call himself that, is it 5 in a row, is it 8, is it 30???

Anyway it’s all a bit moot now!!!

king Kebab the difference is when you have pros like Agnew or Wallace very experienced at championship/ league 1 level playing regular and we have had to depend on 17, 18 year olds for cover playing regular so yes they are reserves players no matter the amount of games they have played in terms of age and experience. The biggest problem about yesterday was you faced a depleted Rovers side who at last have turned up to a derby at new bayview  and have competed and highlights more the tactics of your manager who badly got it wrong yesterday
