Strikers of The Championship

Recommended Posts

Following on from the goalkeeper thread I posted this morning, we are probably in quite a strong place as far as the top 10 strikers in the league go. I can name more than 10 easily, and to put them in order would be a challenge and a half. I've given it a go, but I've no doubt others will disagree. I've put Nelson higher than most probably would, but I just think he's got an explosive x-factor.

My personal (Bias) order would be as follows:

1. Kane Hemmings.
2. Stephen Dobbie
3. Lawrence Shankland
4. Kevin Nisbet
5. Michael Moffat
6. Andrew Nelson
7. Danny Johnson
8. Nicky Clark
9. Kenny Miller
10. Kris Doolan

Anyone I've unfairly missed out? What's your listing?

I’m hoping we’ll be getting a thread for each position now. I think I’ll probably forget someone and there’s a few strikers in this league I’ve never actually seen play. I’m judging it mainly off of what I’ve seen of them.

1. Stephen Dobbie

2. Kane Hemmings

3. Lawrence Shankland

4. Nicky Clark

5. Michael Moffat

6. James Keatings

7. Kevin Nisbet

8. Kenny Miller

9. Danny Johnson

10. Jordan White

Probably will, but will give it time to settle for defence and midfield as don't want to spam.

1. Dobbie
2. Shankland
3. Nisbet
4. Clark
5. Hemmings
6. Moffat
7. Miller
8. Doolan
9. White
10. Doris

Would argue that, contrary to the goalkeeper thread, this is probably the best selection of strikers this tier has seen in recent seasons.

Nisbet a bit too high for me, would stick him in 5th behind Dobbie, shankland, Hemings and Clark.

Just a tiny bit biased of course, but wouldn't be fun otherwise.

1. Hemmings
2. Dobbie
3. Shankland
4. Miller
5. Nisbet
6. Moffat
7. Johnson
8. Clark
9. Doolan
10. Nelson

Dobbie is a dumplin'.

Hemmings by a considerable distance, then Dobbie. Quite the drop again then probably Shankland although he's got a bit to prove, yet.

The rest all sort of merge into one big lump of meh. Like they lumps of plasticine kids have that are all different colours.

Nisbet is better than Clark.

Top 3 is Hemmings, Dobbie and Shankland.

Kenny Miller is a big pile of poo and is not in the top 10 at all.

Stephen Dobbie is still the best player and striker in the league.  Even though he plays for an utter gang of a team.

Kris Doolan, and I hope I'm very wrong here, has done very little of note so far at Ayr. There is a player in there somewhere, McCall just needs to help him find it. Would say he's our fourth choice striker at present behind Moffat, McCowan and Forrest who have started well as a front 3.  (Forrest could be argued as an attacking mid / winger but its all semantics.)
Might be a DKB but, I quite liked the look of Muirhead on Saturday for Morton, best defender in the first half and looked like their best attacker in the second. As the season goes on I think he'll become very important for them and may even make this list.

Based on players I've seen live I'd go with

1. Dobbie
2. Moffat
3. Shankland
4. White
5. Nisbet
6. Clark
7. Johnson
8. Trouten
9.  Nelson
10. Muirhead

Honourable mentions - Alan Forrest & Luke McCowan

Define 'best'?  Top scorer or best conversion rate? Top scorer will be between Shankland and Hemmings but Dobbie will probably have the best conversation rate again.
