Scotland's Shame

Yes, we're back to that strange irony whereby Celtic fans tend to see themselves as wildly different from Rangers fans.

Meanwhile, the rest of us struggle to distinguish between them.

Aye they genuinely struggle to see why eveyone sees the likes of the Green Brigade as just the same as the orange order. Both spouting the same shite with different colours. Both pointing out sectarianism against them but refusing point blank to acknowledge their own .

The funny thing is my wife is from Belfast and she finds the ‘rivalry’ in Glasgow hilariously dumb.

My pal from the Markets area of Belfast always says " Why can't they leave Ireland to the Irish?  Arsholes think there's only two roads in Belfast , the Shankhill and the Falls "

Sorry mate but it's a nonsense to equate a bunch of dicks up in the stands at Parkhead shouting about the 'ra and Palestine and something like the Orange Order.  Couldn't be further removed.

Not sure if you watched it, but that Patrick Kielty did a programme about the troubles a few months back. At the end he went to a school and spoke about it, the kids didn't seem to give a f**k what religion their mates were, didn't bother them whatsoever.
It's a shame that in 2019 in Scotland, we are still miles off anything like that.

Its because the coat tail riding losers who have little clue about the severity or meaning of what was going on, but still use it to define their lives and to show how good a football fan they are will always be the last ones to let go.

Its like these coming of age films where one of the folk in it still wants everything to be like it was. The folk in Ireland that have moved on are to be applauded for identifying that the things which divided them were maybe less important than pursuing a happy peaceful existence. Meanwhile, fat orcs in Scotland who dont even go to church/chapel never read the memo.

Spot on.

Really powerful moment in the Patrick kielty documentary that londonHMFC posted where he talked about the people who killed his dad being released but him saying if that’s what it takes for peace then so be it.

Compare that type of scenario to the behaviour of football fans in this country and it hits home that what we have here is massive, cringeworthy cultural appropriation.

The people who eulogise and glorify Irish terrorism in this country are tourists. They like the frisson of danger, the thrill of breaching societal norms, the community of singing the party sings with their mates but all without the bodies in the street from it. Moral midgets.

No it isn't,  the Green Brigade might be a bunch of dicks in a stand but their ramblings , statements and banners  are a stark reminder of the mindset of the vast majority of the Celtic support . I actually wonder what all these morons would  do with their lives if Scotland  got independence. The union broke up and then Ireland united and all their shite became meaningless.

The creatures outside looked from Celtic fan to Rangers fan, and from Rangers fan to Celtic fan, and from Celtic fan to Rangers fan again, but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Mr Pikey...  If Rangers disappeared would the OO disappear?  No chance.  You are linking a football group with a group with religious and political links that go back decades and was rampant in Scotland with a deliberate anti Irish/Catholic stance that could decide if you had a job or not. The green brigade are a joke in that respect.

Absolutely.

It really is something dear old Eric would recognise.

Some on here genuinely think there's a connection between The Orange Order and Rangers.  Just shows you the power of Groupthink.

Come on Kincy, that is a far too obvious bit of trolling

There is no trolling.  The OO used Ibrox, over a generation ago, for an annual church parade but they used other football grounds, too.

That's the only tenuous connection I can think of.  Can you add to that?

Yes - and the glass bowl was presented after Rangers stopped holding church services at Ibrox.  I noted this.

Is that the best you've got?

Here’s the glass bowl presentation party on their way to Ibrox. The bowl was in the Union flag bag.
