Motherwell v Celtic

Since we struggled to win the midfield battle against Livingston I'd suggest Robinson will need to come up with a Plan B and ditch the 4-3-3 this week.

Kind of agree with this.

As much as folk wanted to blame the pitch last week, fact is Livingston simply played it better than we did. Their direct tactics and pressing worked while we failed to adapt ours to suit.

Whilst Robinson’s switch from hoofball to football has been most welcome, there’s a time and a place. I mind in the run in to the split last season for example, we tried to go toe to toe with Hibs(a), Aberdeen(a) and Rangers(h)- we lost all 3 games by an aggregate score of 8-1.

I think there’s a balance to be found and I’d fear for us today if we try and take Celtic on in an open game of football.

Especially since Celtic almost always play 5 in the middle.

I should probably want Motherwell to be heavily beaten here, to excuse our humiliation last week, but I just cant bring myself to do that.

Lennon has always, always, been completely reckless with his full backs. A total blind spot to how far up they go without cover behind them. Motherwells pace should hopefully be able to exploit that.
