Elgin City vs Cowdenbeath

Recommended Posts

Not the start we hoped and disappointing.

Any insight on how we are playing for those that made the game so far?

Obviously not great from a defensive point of view and on attack reading the commentary we can't break them down just shots from outside the box being blocked.

We've been pish. First half the game was even but we created nothing and never looked like scoring. Horrendously bad opening 10 minutes to second half.

Valentine looks terrible. Barr isn't going to be as good as hope. Herd did nothing before going studs up over the ball. Taylor not bad at running 20 yards before losing the ball.

To summarise we've been pish.

You forgot about Pyper. Looked lost. We need another big defender.

Cox hasn't been the same player since he was made captain.

Elgin  were by far the better team and should've won by a couple more. Dingwall ran the midfield and deserved his MotM. McHale didn't have a save to make. McGowan was solid along with Bronsky. Wilson probably had his best game for City. Spark overcame the bullying and lack of protection in the first half to score a cracking header and Shane was  continues to score (6 in 5 games)

The ref was poor in the first half but manned up in the 2nd. A number of times he allowed blatant elbowing by Cowdenbeast players go unpunished and Cox's (apt name) liking for grabbing genitals. The straight red card was deserved for the studs up tackle.

No idea what happened in the tunnel at half time.

Why Allen doesn't start every week is a mystery to me. An all round poor performance. Keeper badly at fault for the first goal, and stayed glued to his line for the second when the cross was crying out for him to come and collect. Cox tried hard to get sent off.Don't think there was any intent from Herd but it was a red  all day. We have midfield players who can pass the ball but kept lumping it forward. Swann and Allan did ok when they came on . The only saving grace was that we played the last half hour with ten men and didn't concede

Thought there was not much between the teams in the first half and if Cowdenbeath had scored first, may have been a different outcome. Elgin dominated the second half.

Number of good performers and while wouldn’t argue with mom, I thought  McEwan did well alongside Dingwall, he maybe lacks a bit of pace and physique but is neat and tidy with his distribution and keeps it simple. With Omar and Cameron to come back it makes for a decent midfield.
