Broxburn Athletic 2019/2020

Recommended Posts

Well done Broxburn. You played football on the deck, the way it should be played and I doubt we would beat you if we played the game another five times. It will be tough at Inverurie, as I doubt they will play as poorly as us. However, if you play the same way and are confident it all comes down to taking your chances in front of goal and you can make the 4th round.

The morning after the night before and there will be many a sore head in Broxburn and Penicuik today.

Just for a bit of fun had a look at the SPFL2 P&B page.  The general opinion is there teams have not played this bad all season not that they have come up against very decent sides.

If their management take the same view that this is all it was and not that the EOS Premier have a lot of good sides these types of results will continue in future years.

Only problem with this good cup run is a few teams are putting points in the board in the league which may be difficult to claw back.

Maybe, but it might give more confidence and give us a boost in the league campaign.

One of your games-in-hand was due to playing in South Challenge Cup R1 - and it's on Wednesday. You have also gone out of the EOS Qualifying Cup - which would likely mean a league game on Saturday 30th November. Without any weather postponements / Scottish Cup R3 replays, the games played at the Christmas break (when you also play a week early) could be:

17     Newtongrange, Sauchie
16     Blackburn, Bo'ness, Camelon, Crossgates
15     Hill of Beath, Jeanfield, Musselburgh, Tranent
14
Dunbar, Whitehill
13     Broxburn, Dundonald
12
Linlithgow, Penicuik

  • 2 weeks later...

Broxburn 2 Tranent 4. We where poor again, Tranent sat back after going 3-1 up, let us back into it but they could of scored more if they had to. Anyway, improving after last week at least. We still need to get injured players back asap. We have to adapt substitution's to change games instead of waiting for the 75th minute, and we have to find a better team line-up. We need to get a lot tighter defensively and hopefully we should get back to normal.

Expected more today from Broxburn and didn’t fancy our chances with the injuries and suspensions we had ourselves. Could have been 6-2 up at half time. Broxburn the better team 2nd half and at 3-2 were looking the more likely but beating Tranent in a cup tie is never easy.

Fair assessment of the game.  Improved performance by Broxburn from last week but Tranent well deserved winners.  Good luck to them in the next round.

Broxburn are no doubt better than today’s showing, first half it could have got embarrassing for them, again to many easy chances missed from us! Second half a mixture of us sitting back and Broxburn pegging us back without really creating to many chances. We always looked lively on the counter. Some top performance from a number of players playing out of position, hats of to Calvin for getting the team to perform the way they did with a threadbare squad. No doubt about it, we are very lucky to have him as our Manager.

Totally agree certainly knows what he’s doing. Thought Broxburn would have given us more of a game [emoji1303]

A big blow losing Shaun Harrison today, I think our Scottish Cup chance just disappeared in the ambulance that left the game. Also looks like Nimmo could be missing too. Another bad game defensively, it is not the best preparation for Inverurie.

Fingers crossed we find some magic again

Hopefully the lad is ok but looked to be a bad injury. Typical was just a run of the mill coming together of players and not a foul.

Was right in front of us and both players were committed to the ball and it was one of those where they both got to it at the same time. Think it may have been a twist from the impact or potential landing which caused the injury but hope the lad is ok.
