The official Boris pm cluster-fuck thread

Keir Starmer asked a question about Boris having a party on the eve of Prince Philip funeral which the speaker of the house withdrawn it because he mention the queen. Hopefully we will get independence to get away from these old stupid rules!

Johnson getting slowly merked from the shadows is one of those where absolutely everyone already accepts that there is some kind of shenanigans at play. The mainstream take on Cummings not getting fired immediately after Barnard Castle was that Johnson couldn't afford to, on account of all the dirt Cummings had on him. The events since are the result of probably the most predictable and obvious 'conspiracy' you'll ever see.

But no, it's actually the WEF and international intelligence that have orchestrated all of this.

The pressure on this Sue Gray must be off the scale. Nicola Murray levels of pressure. Surely to f*ck it's way above her pay grade to decide, in effect, if a PM gets to stay in post or not. She should make a statement to that effect.

She's just supposed to list the facts, it's not her job to judge or allocate blame. Which won't prevent a huge amount of pressure on her of course.

I'd suggest that the 'facts' are already out there thanks to a) Cummings and b) Johnson's failure of memory in regard to the number of lies he's told.
Unless, of course, Sue Gray has some 'alternative facts'.......

I'm assuming you've got your tongue firmly in cheek there. Sue Gray, in common with you and I, it's easily old enough to remember what happened to David Kelly.

Sue Gray is a Civil Servant - her job is literally to serve the government of the day, regardless of whomever they may be.

Her report will be a statement of facts as @welshbairn has outlined and is not going to say whether the acts were criminal or allocate blame for the breaches. It's not an independent report (wonder why?) but will be a dispassionate statement of corroborated facts. It is not Gray's place for example to decide whether the party Johnson admitted he attended was a party or a work event.

When it comes back, Johnson's defence line will be: "does not say crimes were committed, end of argument, move on". The report of course will not conclude he or his staffers have committed criminal offences, because that's not what it is intended to do. It's his only get out.

The facts will be set out and it is incumbent on his own MPs to decide whether they demonstrate the standards that should be expected of a leader. Hopefully it is more than enough to oust him.

^^^^ Mike... You could have added a tl;dr at the end.......
"Sue Gray's report will be an absolute whitewash"

It's always possible her career would benefit more from skewering Johnson with the facts.
