Herman Hessian Posted July 15, 2019 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Future Mrs H's old man has just turned 80, but still fairly coherent and often regales us with tales of - mostly - petty thievery and sexual impropriety in the Sussex countryside; had a belter on Satdi night, about his time in the RAF serving at Alconbury near Peterborough, which had 'shared facilities' with the USAAF base nearby one of the things that got shared fairly regularly was the local girls, particularly those who took the opportunity to 'supplement their incomes' as it were; he was on about regular dances at the base, where air force trucks were sent out round and about to collect lady guests, including a particularly notorious group from Corby (quite some way away, but considered 'worth the trip to fetch 'em'); these girls would sit along the side of the dance hall, with their feet out in front of them, and prices written on the soles of their shoes. He was saying that him and a mate would sit their, nursing their beers as business carried on about them, until they decided it was time for them to get 'their piece of ass' for the evening; they would then choose the girls who still had the most legible prices on their shoes as 'although they wasn't the prettiest ones, coz it hadn't rubbed off keep shuffling out round the back of the nissan huts over and over, we knew that half the american air force hadn't been through 'em before we had a go'.
