Billy Gilmour

After starting last week, he's not even on the bench today. Caciedo straight back into the team, yes he's a very good player but after his very public statement of desire to leave the club then Gilmour must have been hoping for more opportunities ahead of him.

Pretty clear he's going to get very limited minutes for the rest of this season, doesn't bode too well for fitness for the forthcoming Scotland qualifiers next month.

De Zerbi said there were a few illness/injury doubts for the game and it seems suggested by Brightons friendly journalist that Gilmour was one of them. Welbeck disappeared from the squad as well.

Given they had quite a few kids on the bench I think it seems most likely, he’s been pretty consistently in the squad, if not in the team itself.

Interesting one, looked certain to be leaving which would have been good for Billy's chance of getting a game, but he has just signed a new long term deal. Gilmour hasn't kicked a ball for over a month due to an injury, but looks set to be back in the squad tomorrow.

Contract secures the huge fee for Brighton and increased wedge for the player and agent. Wouldn't take that to mean he has any intention of staying there. He almost certainly does not.

Well they did reject £70m for him in January, so they certainly seem intent on keeping him.

Thats exactly how I see it, too. He will get a bump in wages and most likely have an agreement if X amount is offered he will be free to talk to the club.

Both parties know where they stand and I assume his agent will be letting certain parties know what's needed to get movement done.

No minutes this week for Gilmour.

He’d still walk into the bun team though.

He's returned from injury to be fair to him plus Brighton have 3 games (Leeds, Crystal Palace and Grimsby) before Scotland play Cyprus. If he isn't at least getting game time in the FA Cup then it will paint a bit of a sour picture considering he has only played five times since our International friendly with Turkey.

Caicedo and MacAllister don't play the same position. MacAllister plays as a 10 mostly.

It's pascal gross that is keeping Gilmour out the team. Which is rather more worrying

I think gilmour can play any of those positions. So in a way they all are, but yeah his most likely and natural slot would be Gross's position.

Which is as you say a concern. Id say its 100% a physical thing, hes just not big or strong enough to get the job. Or it seems good enough to convince managers that he doesn't have to be.

Gross is actually a really good player, he’s a bit underrated as he isn’t especially eye catching and been mainly with Brighton in the PL, so not in an especially eye catching team for most of his time.

Anyway apparently Gilmour was injured again today (same one as before) but that was from random Twitter accounts and not the usual Brighton journalists, so I don’t know if it’s accurate.
