While the current format suits Clyde, maybe 1 goes straight to final and 2 hosts 3 for the right to join them would be fairer. And if you are having semi-finals, 1 v 4, 2 v 3 makes much more sense than 1 v 3, 2 v 4.

Still wonder if that was an error. If results and scheduling had gone slightly differently then on paper it might actually have been in somebody's interest to target 4th not 3rd and avoid Rangers. Unclear to me why you'd go 1st v 3rd and 2nd v 4th.

The big one tonight at Broadwood, 8-15 kick off. Queen's Park v Rangers B, as they like to call themselves. The play offs will mean the Queen's won't be filling the squad with first teamers, but that's a good thing. With no reserve league, chances for the kids to shine have been few and far between.

Playing each other once then SFs is arguably slightly better formatting than before (playing twice then Final)... but taking 10 games to eliminate 20% of the entry still feels pretty contrived.

Probably just to give you the younger players more games. If the reserve leagues start up next year, there won't be the need so maybe the format will change

Any chance of the Glasgow teams who've moved over from the Juniors to WoSFL joining in anytime soon?

This tournament has largely been a waste of time and unnecessary extra fixtures. For us anyway (and Thistle and QP judging by the line ups they've fielded in fixtures). With the current setup it's effectively a reserve cup. And with all the cups lower down the pyramid, would there be space in a WoS teams calendar for these games?

Having said all that, if the tournament continues then I would be happy with that idea to freshen it up. Might actually get some folk interested having a Pollok or Glens etc in there.

I think a few would for the chance of a wee money earner. If any are missing the sectional league cup it'd be a decent replacement.

I think we should ditch the league cup, all 32 council areas should have their own cup, and the 32 winners go into a knockout tournament. Once Morton beat Greenock and Port Glasgow we can get the away day to Lerwick we've all been dreaming of...

Going by website this season's setup has been settled. Clyde, Partick, Queen's Park, Celtic 'B' and Rangers 'B' all face each other once before single-leg SFs and Final:

Glasgow Football Association | Home (glasgowfa.co.uk)

In case of OF 'B's this would mean a further rise to a heavy schedule: on top of 36 games in LL be 4-6 in this cup, minimum 6 in UEFA Youth League (may reach ko's), at least 3 in SPFL Trust Trophy, plus 4-7 for Celtic 'B' in EPL International Cup.

Some minor rule adjustments:

Draws now go to penalties for 1pt bonus.

Tied positions resolved by playoff.

SFs now (sensibly) 1 v 4 and 2 v 3.

Final at neutral venue.

First-teams: must field a minimum of 6 recognised 1st team players in the starting line up.

'B'-teams: players who qualify as U21 players (born on or after 1st January 2002), are eligible to play in the competition... shall be permitted to play a maximum of three overage players in any match.

Commenced last Tuesday with Queen's Park 2-1 Partick Thistle. No other dates confirmed.

Get them used to the amount of games they'll be playing once they start progressing to the national team, IMVHO.

Are Glens in Glasgow?

For all…this tournament is run by Glasgow Football Association and you have to be a member of that to be in the tournament. There are only five members, who were all the senior clubs in Glasgow at the time. I suppose Third Lanark evened up the fixtures.  It’s effectively been used as a youth/development cup for some years now. Not by the GFA but the clubs themselves.

Don’t see anything related to “how to be a member”.
