Unlike Vale of Leithen, Fort have a decent chance to win promotion back up. They are perhaps the strongest club in the NCL, and there is a good chance the North/Midlands won't provide a licensed champion. The biggest hurdle would be winning the play-off against the worst Highland League club, but this is certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

Unless you have inside knowledge that's a bold statement. They struggled to field a team with no subs at the end of last season, and it's likely that most of who were left went home. I'm not saying they won't recruit well in the summer, but there's no way of knowing as yet.

They'd have to win the NCL which is certainly possible. If they're willing to put some money into it.

Best hope would be that the North & Midlands champions are unlicenced.

Even then they're stuck having win a two legged playoff against bottom in the HL. Which is something they would struggle to do when in the same league.

Plus there’s clubs in the NCL chock full of ex The Caley and County youngsters and other players with SPFL experience. There’s no way Fort will win the league.

Going to guess it’s been a good while since Fort achieved an aggregate win over two games in one season against any team in the Highland League.

Suppose that’s the homework for today.

I was curious so I looked into this. The last time Fort achieved this was 2016-17, when they defeated Strathspey Thistle twice (4-1 at home and 1-0 away).

They last did it in 2019/20 when they defeated Clach 1-0 in both league games.

Strathspey in 2016/17 as mentioned.

In 2015/16, they double-dunted Rothes (P2, W2), would have gone to extra time with Clach (both games finished 2-1 to the home side), and lost on away goals to Huntly (3-3).
