sorry I didnt hear that....need to look back on this thread.  Sounds like a mental plan

ETA...fair enough had a wee look back and as i suspected you were taking the piss. So no answer on how they intend to finance these players from English and Welsh football.

No honestly, that was the talk after they got humped from the Broch.

Their new manager is seemingly full time and wants at least half of the squad initially full time as well.

Like you I have no idea how they are going to finance it all.

A guy coming to play with experience in the Cymru Premier and Conference North should be decent...but then you have to ask, why is he dropping down a couple of levels to come to Fort William. The less said about the Warrington pub team the better I think.

Fort William's policy of playing English boys from Tier 8/9 from the pyramid has, charitably, not worked. Quite a surprise to see the new coach persisting with it. Some of the players they signed from that level are farcically bad. Only really Darren Brew looks like he has played football about Sunday league level before.

Haven't seen them this season but some who have thought that some the English players have been pretty good, not enough to stop the team getting regularly thrashed though obviously. If they've managed to persuade a few more to stay up here for a few months and actually train together you never know, they only need 3 wins plus whatever Strathspey manage in the rest of the season, which won't be much from what I've seen of them.

Think it's more like 15th tier where New Street FC is concerned. The Warrington & District League feeds into the Liverpool County Premier League which is 11th tier and has three divisions overall.

Definitely read the wrong team when searching them.

Wonder how long it’ll be until they get a game now with a mix of weather/covid.

They are signing lads who won't be earning anything different from lads at Lochee or Carnoustie.

Its only for 4 months too. A sponsor working on a hotel refurb or clearing some trees would see to it.

Sounds like you were spot on..

“The club’s going on to full-time training."

“The attitude of the lads is really good, they’ll be training and playing five of the seven days and they’ll have part-time jobs alongside that.”

It's all going to end in tears isn't it.  Short term sponsorship deals with local breweries, part-time jobs (for four months?) and exciting new revenue streams like a local lottery (suspect that will not be the xuccess they hope)...I still dont get it. They must be picking up un-attached and unemployed lads who are probably not even getting a game for their local north west counties amateur team.....what's in it for them?

No budget boost

Despite the influx of players who will be committing a great amount of time to Fort, Trew says the playing budget at Claggan Park has not been increased.

“The playing budget is exactly the same as what the old manager had,” he said. “But behind the scenes the board and committee are accessing revenue streams and raising money that wasn’t there before.

“For the playing budget nothing has changed – it’s still being done on a shoestring.

“But we’re hoping to raise more revenue by being more active in the community and getting the community to support us.”

New streams of income

To increase revenue Fort William have been seeking player sponsors and have also started a club lottery.

Trew said: “It all makes a difference and it all adds up. We’re getting player sponsors again.

“When was the last time that was done at the club?

Why are BBC coming to the Glebe on Saturday to cover Fort William?

Even in the circumstances Brechin found themselves on Saturday - missing players, thin bench, stuck in Darkest Shire wondering if they'd get out alive - they should still be battering six shades of Sunday out of Fort. Lossie put four on them, and that was against a team of better players with games under their belt. Some of this lot ain't seen a proper game of football in weeks. If ever.

Morbid curiosity similar to somebody rubber necking a car crash would be my guess. First game with the new hybrid full-time approach is mildly newsworthy.

A fascinating appointment. Like with the rube who scored a panenka penalty* and later had to miss games due to media commitments, it’ll get them some rake of publicity. We did wonder what they’d try next.

Still, it might stop them whining about their pitch for five minutes.

* - the consolation goal in a 5-1 loss.

SH7??? Scotty Hunter. What ever happened to him? The last I heard was he was single handily taking over the club putting thousands in the bank and turning the fort into a national and international super-power with 6 figure sponsorship deals and sky sports segments lined up before John Robertson and members of the FWFC board and management colluded to end his career.

The man , the myth , the legend. Not only one of the greatest goals Claggan Park ever seen , but the entire Highland League has ever seen.
