Tucker really is the master. Let them play their game, pass and switch away.  Also well done to Bryan, 2 goals, man of the match, cover of the programme and a well placed floating cross assist in his last two games.  Roll on the draw

Would stick my neck out here and say Cove were better on the ball than Ayr and were caught with the classic sucker punch !!!

Disagree.  Felt Ayr always carried a threat going forward.  Don't think Cove created a clear chance today. Anybody can look good on the ball when they are not being pressured in their own half

The vast majority were average size with a splattering of tall and short people.

I was impressed the way Cove kept possession of the ball, their movement and long and short passing game.At times we couldn't get near the ball.

Yes Talbot were defending but doing it outside their box restricting Cove to long range efforts mostly going high and wide. And the ones on target would not have tested any junior goalkeeper. Both teams had chances in the first half none were taken.

Second half Talbot did believe in themselves more and came into the game.Tucker changed the two wide men Shankers and Samson as it was obvious they were spent.Cove made changes too but a glaring mistake was to take off their main striker with eight minutes to go.A blind man could see that they were happy with a draw at this stage and changed their way of play. They didn't play for ninety minutes and got caught out. Mugged my arse, it was their own doing.

Well there it is. The draw has been made for the lucrative and exciting Scottish FA Cup Round 3 involving 32 clubs. With 13 clubs from outside the SPFL this shows a 30% increase on 2018/19 and 2017/18 when 10 non-SPFL clubs made it through to the same Draw. Round 3 includes:

Highland League:    Brora Rangers, Formartine United, Fort William and Inverurie Loco Works

Lowland League:    Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, BSC Glasgow, East Kilbride and Gala Fairydean Rovers

East of Scotland Senior League:    Broxburn Athletic, Linlithgow Rose and Penicuik Athletic

Juniors:    Auchinleck Talbot and Lochee United

What, if anything, has changed to bring this about?

This time there are two Leading Junior clubs (no change there) and 11 Pyramid clubs (up by 3), but four of these, until recently, were Leading Juniors. Indeed, in the current season’s competition one current Junior (Auchinleck Talbot) and one former Junior (Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic) have hosted live televised Home fixtures in front of more than 1,500 fans.

Participation in the SFA Cup by former Juniors is what has changed. Just imagine what the situation would be if there was the equivalent to the current East of Scotland League for the West of Scotland. It’s not hard to guess that, every season,  there could be at least three more West Juniors still in the competition at Round 3 Draw time.

Whilst this is not currently the situation, I wonder which West Juniors are maybe kicking themselves for missing out yet again? There won’t be many few fool-hardy enough to bet against Auchinleck Talbot taking the League and the Junior Cup again and so blocking access to the lucrative and prestigious Scottish FA Cup.

And by Lucrative it looks something like this: If a club starts in the 1st Preliminary Round and loses in Round 3 it will pick up in the region of £24,000. Then there’s a £2,000 for playing in a round 1, 2 or 3 televised match.

Clubs playing in the 1st Preliminary Round (10 clubs) - £3,000

Clubs playing in the 2nd Preliminary Round (12 clubs) - £3,000

Clubs playing in Round One (36 clubs) - £4,000

Clubs playing in Round Two (32 clubs) - £6,000

Clubs playing in Round Three (32 clubs) – in the region of £8,000

They ain't a Junior club if they play in the East of Scotland league.

Bye Bye Arbroath
