The way vale are capitulating might mean Gretna are already safe three points ahead of them emoji15.png

They're screwed on Goal Difference that's why I thought to add it. At the same time, forgetting upsets elsewhere. The homes games against Gretna, Dalbeattie and Berwick are games they will fancy their chances in.

Another round of defeats for the bottom four. Gretna 2008 at least kept it tight. Possibly bodes well for next week's game against Edinburgh University.

My worry is we, Gretna are not scoring many.

Even though Edinburgh University lost today they still scored two.

With Brechin bottom this thread could be a waste of time...

It will be absolutely ridiculous if no side is relegated this season.  They need to find a better promotion/relegation system as you're likely to have four teams miles behind the other twelve and possibly none getting relegated.

They really should favour additional promotions over reprieves when there is only one relegation spot.

Depending on how you considered the old version of the rules, they did. They changed it so that it was less open to interpretation.

In case that happens seems like our only hope of some relegation is if Vale don't get their floodlights up in time and lose their licence.

This is the arrangement within the EOS League i.e. 3 down/4 up between Premier/First.

Decent chance that none of this muck will go down?

Sadly yes.  Rewarding mediocrity rather than promoting an extra club.

The extra club in this case would surely be Threave Rovers (as SoS champion / play-off loser) so that wouldn't really be an improvement. What they'd be better doing is relegating 16th and inviting applications for the vacancy.

Yes, the system in general needs sorted out.  EoS being on an equal level with SoS and equal promotion chances is very flawed as is the relegation system.

Still a chance of a Lowland League area club being SPFL42. Still a chance of SPFL42 winning the play-off. Still a chance of the HL Champion winning the play-off.

In defence of some of the bottom four teams most if not all are competitive playing at home. Gretna have only lost one game at home by more than two goals all season, Dalbeattie have lost two, one of which was way back in August.

Imagine it’s very rare for a league anywhere to have four teams with such a low points total after so many games of a league season.

HL bottom 4 (after 22/22/22/15 games) = 13pts, 12pts, 10pts, 6pts.

EOSL First Division conferences = 19pts, 10pts, 8pts, 2pts & 13pts, 11pts, 9pts, 9pts.

SOSL = 13pts, 11pts, 10pts, 10pts.

Tempting fate there, @surely not!

There is a chance: it's possible if LL champion goes up and whoever come down from SPFL2 goes into HL. So you would be talking Kelty up/Brechin down - as it stands right now. It hasn't happened before incidentally (indeed scenario hasn't been possible before: even when Montrose finished bottom Brora made the Final).

It seems unlikely neither EOSL or SOSL champion will be eligible to come up, so no need to consider a reprieve originating from matters below.

If you'll expect Bo'ness to beat Threave - again this is as it stands right now - considering Kelty beat them 10-0 on aggregate 2 years ago, then using the EOSL model of extra promotion (i.e. both champions up) couldn't be much help anyway: is Threave any stronger than Edinburgh Uni/Dalbeattie/Gretna/Vale/etc.?

You may or may not have points but meanwhile in the Highlands the bottom club remains bottom and gets access to round 1 of the Scottish Cup every season. Why criticise the LL teams when theres "muck" in the HFL season after season wi nowt getting done aboot that :whistle
