Almost everyone in LL is a member of EOSFA or SCFA - there are 3 (IIRC) which aren't, and I recall it's largely down to groundshare availability and costs. Back before the pyramid began Annan, Dalbeattie and Threave played in EOSFL but were SCFA members contesting the Southern Counties Cup. Nowadays it would be highly unlikely for any EOSFL club not to as they'd miss EOS Qualifying and potentially also Alex Jack and King cups; whereas those 3 LL clubs only miss EOS Qualifying/Southern Counties cup. I'm guessing that Annan and Dalbeattie played in all the EOS cups at the time as they were able to field reserve sides in the SoSFL. Did Threave Rovers contest them all and the Southern Counties Cup? If you know. Thanks!
HibeeJibee
No their first-teams played in the Southern Counties Cup... and sometimes another IIRC (Potts?). Together with the South Qualifying/Challenge and EOS League cups. They never joined EOSFA and never played in EOS Qualifying or King cups. Their reserves contented themselves with SOS League, Potts, Cree Lodge, Tweedie and Haig Gordon cups.
Burnie_man
Sounds correct . Interesting to hear what happens tonight. The Juniors want the LL to dance to their tune.

FairWeatherFan
Thank goodness for football to get things back on track. Just the one game of particular relevance today. Gretna 2008 1-1 Berwick Rangers Another valuable point for Gretna to edge them up a spot on goal difference.
surely not!
Imagine it’s very rare for a league anywhere to have four teams with such a low points total after so many games of a league season.
HibeeJibee
HL bottom 4 (after 22/22/22/15 games) = 13pts, 12pts, 10pts, 6pts. EOSL First Division conferences = 19pts, 10pts, 8pts, 2pts & 13pts, 11pts, 9pts, 9pts. SOSL = 13pts, 11pts, 10pts, 10pts.

Edinburghs game in hand is vs Kelty so favours a loss most likely. VOL & Gretna are on an upward curve in terms of results so I would be worried for the Uni lads. Dalbeattie will likely nick a couple of surprise results in the run in as they did last season.
FairWeatherFan
Dalbeattie Star 0-1 Bonnyrigg Rose Edinburgh University 1-0 Cumbernauld Colts Gala Fairydean Rovers 4-1 Gretna 2008 Vale of Leithen 0-3 East Stirlingshire Edinburgh University get off the bottom but it's still too close to call how this will end up.
HibeeJibee
Time for a run-in calendar IMO: | Gretna | Dalb | Ed Uni | V of L | | | | | | | | Feb 01 | Civil (A) | E Stir (A) | Spartan(H) | Cumbern(A) Feb 08 | Ed Uni (H) | Kelty (H) | Gretna (A) | idle Feb 15 | V of L (A) | Caledon(H) | Bonny. (A) | Gretna (H) Feb 22 | Spartan(H) | V of L (A) | Berwick(A) | Dalbeat(H) Feb 29 | St Uni (A) | Berwick(H) | E Kilb (H) | Spartan(A) Mar 07 | | | | Mar 14 | | | | Mar 21 | E Stir (H) | Gala (A) | BSCG (A) | E Kilb (A) Mar 28 | | | | Apr 04 | | | | Apr 11 | Bonny. (A) | Ed Uni (A) | Dalbeat(H) | Civil (A) Apr 18 | BSCG (H) | Civil (H) | Gala (A) | St Uni (H) | | | | | | | | no date | E Kilb (H) | BSCG (H) | BSCG (H) | Berwick(H) | | | Kelty (H) | BSCG (H) At this stage it's all impossible to call especially with Edinburgh Uni and in due course Vale having games-in-hand. Highlighted head-to-heads may settle it.
FairWeatherFan
Civil Service Strollers 1-0 Gretna 2008 Cumbernauld Colts 7-1 Vale of Leithen East Stirlingshire 6-1 Dalbeattie Star Edinburgh University 2-5 The Spartans Another round of defeats for the bottom four. Gretna 2008 at least kept it tight. Possibly bodes well for next week's game against Edinburgh University.

At the same time, forgetting upsets elsewhere. The homes games against Gretna, Dalbeattie and Berwick are games they will fancy their chances in.

Even though Edinburgh University lost today they still scored two. Edited February 1, 2020 by sureiknow

It will be absolutely ridiculous if no side is relegated this season. They need to find a better promotion/relegation system as you're likely to have four teams miles behind the other twelve and possibly none getting relegated.

They really should favour additional promotions over reprieves when there is only one relegation spot.

Depending on how you considered the old version of the rules, they did. They changed it so that it was less open to interpretation.

In case that happens seems like our only hope of some relegation is if Vale don't get their floodlights up in time and lose their licence. This is the arrangement within the EOS League i.e. 3 down/4 up between Premier/First.
