Yanks don’t like that. It's about time American Banks and the dollar lost their hegemony over the global financial system. Trump's played that card to often (geddit?), unilaterally announcing sanctions on the likes of Iran that unless companies across the world go along with they will lose access to money transfer systems and the like, despite the fact that the US reneged on a treaty the other major economies had signed up to. Europe's trying to set up some kind of barter system with Iran to keep the treaty going but they're being way too slow and unambitious. The US can't be trusted anymore, we need grownups in charge.

It can be quite easy to forget, to read mainstream media, where the problem lies. Only today , I've read, on the BBC site, and MSN, that the US "... abandoned the treaty... ", and also, "... pulled out of the deal...". The reality is, as you say, Trump reneged on an international treaty with Iran. Reneged.

Donald and Boris will meet up in the nuclear control room and one of them will sit down on the "launch all" button by mistake.

That tactic largely succeeded in the 20th Century (Vietnam being the obvious exception), but it won't in the 21st.China and to a lesser extent Russia will not buy into American hegemony; indeed the Chinese have already made huge inroads into Asia and Africa based on an economic strategy, whilst the US ploughs on with the Monroe Doctrine.Secondly, the ongoing destruction of the environment will inevitably lead to alternatives to oil, so the current American pursuit of controlling it's supply and distribution may quite soon come to be seen as capturing the market in analogue telly's.

LongTimeLurker
Is Iran close to Hamas given they are Sunni? It's more Hezbollah in Lebanon that they side with given they are Shia. Israel is more concerned about the Shia crescent formed through post-Saddam Shia dominated Iraq and Alawite dominated Baathist Syria all the way to Hezbollah in Lebanon. ISIS blocked that for many years, but are now largely out of the picture. Edited June 23, 2019 by LongTimeLurker

GOG
It appears to me to be a bit coincidentally like a false flag attack. it is after all the worlds favourite way of starting wars. From the Nazi invasion of Poland to Vietnam. the two ships attacked, one belonged to the Norwegian shipping magnate John Fredriksen who was an Iranian saviour during the Iran/Iraq war. He kept his ships transporting their oil when no one else would. It’s just inconceivable that they would hit his tankers.
